is Heroes getting S5?

Temis the Vorta

Fleet Admiral

Ripley's Believe it Or Not. :rommie:

No decision has been made on a Heroes renewal, but NBC prez Angela Bromstad says she’s pleased with the show’s ratings performance at 8 and series creator Tim Kring is “pitching out his view of the next season.”
On the one hand, they're already out of ideas, so what exactly do they plan to do with another season? On the other hand, NBC's drama announcements are so depressingly uninteresting (cop shows and, for something new, remakes of cop shows!) that I'd rather see them give an hour to the Heroes cast doing a remake of Beach Blanket Bingo than anything else NBC is likely to dredge up from their creative well.

I'd love to hear Kring's views for the next season. :rommie: Body swapping? Evil twins? Sylar's a Petrelli after all? Bring it on!

Ugh! Just die already!

Season 5 will introduce aliens...aliens who just want to be normal teenage girls...but they can't be normal...because they're aliens. There will also be an eclipse that turns them into not-aliens for roughly 5 minutes, but in that 5 minutes, all hell will break loose.

Meanwhile, Angela is revealed to be an evil shapeshifting puppy, and Sylar becomes a pastry chef.

They'll have to stop a cataclysmic event, lose their powers at some point in time, and welcome a few new forgettable characters.

I haven't watched any of this past season? Are we still using painting to see the future?

Ooh, the Heroes have to travel back in time to fight Nazis!

Season five will have a villain that says the same thing every episode for 15 episodes straight and we finally find out what is plan is in the final episode.

Oh wait! Genius idea!

An eclipse happens and everyone in the world gets superpowers except the main cast, who loses them!:eek::eek:

I haven't watched any of this past season? Are we still using painting to see the future?

Nope. They were into cave paintings for a while and now it's tattoos. Up next: finger puppets!

Ooh, the Heroes have to travel back in time to fight Nazis!

Space Nazis? That's an even bigger genius idea than mine!

Genius Idea to End All Genius Ideas:

Yknow how ABC wants to create a Lost spinoff after it goes off the air this year? Just turn the island over to the Heroes characters. Losties with mutant superpowers - puts them on a more equal footing with that frakkin' island, right? Smokey won't be feeling so smug anymore.

Or, back to the Space Nazi idea. Seriously, why isn't there a Nazi time-traveller who can join the show. They're flailing around for a decent villain. Sylar: [Seinfeld] He's good, he's evil, he's good, he's evil. Pick a personality and stick with it! [/Seinfeld] Samuel is underwhelming. Just go back to the basics. How can you frak up a Nazi as a villain? Knowing Heroes, they'll try.

Space Nazis have been done to death. What about subterranean Nazis? Who are now mutants and allergic to the sun?

How can you frak up a Nazi as a villain?

By making him a Petrelli.

EDIT: Oh shit, Hitler is going to turn out to be Sylar.

THAT'S IT!
The idea that will save the show!

Seriously, what's Kring's email address? I have to send this right now!

No, wait, forget that. CHUDs is what we need:

What about subterranean Nazis? Who are now mutants and allergic to the sun?

Yup, mutant cannibals that live in the sewers of New York.

Or maybe we're overthinking this. Just have the whole cast become emo vampires. Peter's more than halfway there already.

Right now NBC is in desperation mode, Look at the leno thing. They will be opening back up the 10:00 slot so there are alot of programing decisions to be made. I'm sure thay will have heroes at 8:00 and want keep it as an ancor for a more expanded monday night. BTW, Temis only wants a season 5 so here Nathan body swap dream can come true!

They've got some new show they might greenlight called Midnighters that sounds compatible with Heroes - same tone, same audience, sf/f - that plus if the overseas and DVD revenues are strong might just be enough to save the show. Plus it will be less embarrassing if NBC doesn't have to cancel everything it has except The Office.

I thought a lot of NBCs comedies were doing rather well (or at least, I know a lot of people who like them). 30 Rock...Community...? I just blew through the first 3 seasons of 30 Rock and thought it was one of the funniest shows I'd ever seen.

Here's the NBC renew/cancel index.

30 Rock and The Office are safe. Heroes may be safe because of overseas revenues and DVD sales. L&O SVU will probably be with us forever. They will probably axe everything else. Not that there's any reason to believe that their new lineup will do any better.

SVU's salaries have got to be escalating big time. The two leads and two of the supporting roles have been there since season one (and Ice T has been there since season two). They're like the anti-Law & Order.

Honestly, I think this season is better than last, but, yeah, they don't really have many ideas and they continue to recycle them. I definitely see it getting at least one more season. Barring some kind of unexpected collapse in the ratings or Zachary Quinto's contract being up, I don't see them canceling the show even after another season, although I personally would recommend it (the show ends up with a damned if you do, damned if you don't approach with Sylar where they can't get another villain, so it either stays cliche or adds another stupid Sylar side-plot).

I hope not. What began as a promise for an epic story involving people with superpowers has, since the end of S2, become a never-ending trainwreck towards absurdity, inconsistences, and static characterization. Like Nip/Tuck, I want it over and put it out of its misery.
