Is Hart of Dixie as bad as it looks.

I see previews for this show whenever I watch "Supernatural" and it looks horrid. A girl doctor that looks like she is 20 years old is bad and then last week had some horrid hillbilly cliche.

I watched the pilot, and it wasn't half bad. I think the big problem for me was seeing someone so young play the role of a doctor with a practice of her own. Bad casting decision, as she looks far too young. She actually looks like Justin Bieber with long hair. She also can't act her way out of paper bag which makes things even more unconvincing. If they had gone with someone a bit older, or even someone who doesn't look so young, the show would have been better for it as everything revolves around her role, and her role has to work before everything else.

You have to remember that Heart of Dixie is on the CW they probably aren't exactly going to the 18 and over crowd. Plus the actor is 30.

Doesn't matter. The actress looks very young for her part. She looks like she's in her teens. If she's really 30, they should have picked someone at that age that could have been believable at their part. As it is, she looks like someone still in college, who shouldn't even have her own practice. It's not to her fault, however. She just looks very young. If a show revolves around someone to make it work, they better have a lead that actually works for the part, otherwise it doesn't matter if everyone else is better as the lead and the whole reason for the show doesn't work. It's sink or swim based on who they chose as their lead, writing not withstanding.

If the had an older looking doctor, the would have skewed the show out of their target demographic.

I think you're missing the point of what I'm saying. It's not about having an older doctor, but rather having a doctor that looks the part. The actress could be the same age as this one and look more mature in her role and more believable in it, and that wouldn't skew demographics in the least. As it is, they cast an actress that looks far too young regardless of what her age is or what the demographics are, and that's simply bad casting. The right casting can make a great deal of difference in how we perceive things, particularly when it's the lead role, as everything else can fall apart if the lead role isn't believable.

An actress who looks 30 would not work on the CW, regardless of whether her real age is 16 or 116.

The real problem here is that we have people watching the CW who are not the CW target market and do not like the CW style, which is not designed for them to like. Let's put it this way, I don't like golf, so I don't watch the Golf Channel.
