Is golf boring? :D

I'll admit, I've never been enthralled with golf. I've played mini-golf before, and I don't doubt that the pros have acquired a lot of skill and experience. But ultimately it's still shooting a ball into a hole.

So am I the only one? Or will I get booed out of the forum?

Yes, it is. Very, very boring. It's like watching people stand around a park. If I want to do that, I'll go to a park.

Do not listen to this woman. She has been possesed by aliens and has no idea what she's on about.

Golf is so much fun to play, and great to watch on tv as well.

Basketball is much the same as golf, but at least it has the benefit of being exciting. :p :D The players have to work harder to get the ball into the goal.

I will admit I'm not a huge sports fan in general. I understand a lot of the common sports, but they're not all that exciting to me. I make occasional exceptions for football.

Yeah, golf would be way more exciting if the other players could stand there and try to block the shots. Or at least talk a little smack...

Great fun to play, fun to watch as well. It's a game your primary opponent is yourself before the other guys. You're competing against yourself, your past scores, your handicap, the weather, tons of conditions and tons of strategy.

Mini golf is fun, but until you've played 18 holes, you haven't experienced the game.

you're not the only one. It's about as exciting as watching grass grow.

Although David Ferehty, CBS golf analyst is a semi-regular guest on the sports radio station I listen to and he's hilarious.

He's also a columnist for Golf.com, here's a link to some of his fine work

I think the golfing announcers and Tiger woods is why I like golf. Ferehty, Miller, Faldo, and some of the other guys are great to listen to. Other than that, yeah golf can get boring at times.

Agreed. I love golf and play in two weekly leagues. Even though I usually play at the same course, every round brings new challenges. I'd golf every day if I could, but I usually only get out 3-4 times a week. Even when I'm just out for a regular round (non-league), I tend to be very competitive. I always work to lower my handicap (currently 14.1 for 18), so even when I have a good round, I know I can do better.

 Thanks for the Carlin quote (although I think flies fucking is more exciting if you're into that kind of thing ;) ). Golf might be fun to play, but it's certainly not fun to watch.

Who said the famous quote "Golf is a good walk ruined"?

Golf isn't a sport, neither is bowling. There is no physical benefit to golf, or bowling, so yes they are boring but they aren't even a sport.

Have trouble sleeping?

Put away the meds...
get comfortable on the couch...
turn the television to golf...
and enjoy a perfect afternoon nap.
ZZZzzzzzzZZZzzzzZZZzzzzzZZZZzZZZ

Unless of course there are wild animals involved... then it can be pretty exciting!
