Is every CHARACTER somebody's favorite?

I don’t know if this qualifies, because he’s not my favourite character generally, but my favourite of the Captains’ is Archer.

I don't mind Wes or Neelix, and Armus and Fajo were great :D

I don't dispute they worked well as villains, being utterly malevolent (and despicable, too, in Fajo's case), but I think it's hard to imagine anyone would actually view them as their favourite character. I'd say they were also too one-dimensional for that.(Couldn't perhaps really be helped as they only appeared in a single episode.)

I still could imagine someone selecting Dukat for various reasons, for example, but not them.

My favorite is Pike, even before 2009.

How are we defining a character? Mains, secondaries and guests all included?

Well I was thinking mainly about the regular characters, but especially with DS9 the lines are blurry, and I dare say many people prefer e.g. Garak, a non-regular, over some of the regulars on that show. So, whichever it may be, right?

Probably. Of the main cast, usually everyone has a lot of strong qualities. Though it 8s tougher for the underutilized characters.

My favorites:
TOS/TAS: Spock
TNG: Picard
DS9: Kira
VOY: Torres
ENT: T'Pol
PIC: Seven
DISCO: Saru
LD: Tendi
PRO: Gwyn
SNW: Una

Toughest calls are VOY & SNW (The Doctor/Janeway/Seven & Pike/La'An/Chapel/Spock).

Least liked:
TOS/TAS: Chekov
TNG: Wesley
DS9: Bashir
VOY: Kim (Neelix for a while)
ENT: Reed
DISCO: Terran Georgiou (she IS a mass murderer, after all).
PIC: Jack
LD: Mariner
PRO: Jakob
SNW: Pelia

We're pretty closely aligned here, it seems. Good choices.

But speaking of underutilized. When I initially mentioned Neelix and Wesley as examples of "unlikely favorites", I may as well have included Travis from ENT (funny by the way how I instinctively added "from ENT" to clarify who I'm talking about although there was never any other Travis, haha). VERY underutilized, we all agree I'm sure. Is he anyone's #1 favorite? I'm certain he CAN be. But it's difficult for characters who rarely ever made a mark on stories.

I didn't list any nu-Trek characters...because there's too many I really enjoy to decide on a favourite: Boimler, Mariner, Tendi, Rutherford, Billups, Dr.T'Ana, SNW-Uhura, SNW-Pike, SNW-Una, SNW-M'Benga, Tilly, and Stamets

I’d be surprised if anyone said Malcolm Reed. He is, at least I believe, the only Star Trek series regular character not to have his own Wikipedia page.

Malcolm Reed was my favorite character on ENT last time I watched the show 12 years ago. We're going to do a rewatch after we finish VGR (currently watching season 6), so who knows how I'll feel this time.

Chakotay's my favorite VGR character, but I'm not particularly fond of any of them, except possibly Kes. That said, even Seven's grown on me this time around. My least favorite VGR character is Neelix by a very wide margin.

My favorite DS9 character is Kira, followed by Bashir and Garak. I also love to hate Kai Winn and Gul Dukat.

My favorite TNG character is Riker, and my least favorite is Pulaski. Sure, Crusher made some ethically questionable decisions as a doctor, but in my book Pulaski was worse. I honestly don't get the Wesley hate. Sure he saved the ship a few times, but that was only because the officers were acting more stupid than usual. I blame the idiotic writing, not the character.

Bones is my favorite TOS character, closely followed by Spock. I don't actively dislike any of them.

I really like Pulaski. It's quite clear they wanted to make a character in the same vein as McCoy, and even though she's not quite as snappy as him, I like that she's headstrong and challenges Picard as well. I don't get the Wesley hate either, he's just a teen and doesn't do anything offensive really.

^ I had no problems with a prodigious child on the show. But I disliked the 'wonder boy saves the ship once again because all fully mature and grown career officers, supposedly the best in the fleet, were too dumb to spot the obvious danger' approach, too.

I liked him better after they toned him down a bit and made him a normal (albeit still very bright) boy with normal teenager issues.
