Is Enterprise the most US-centric Trek series?

There is a Canadian accent (I'm referring to native English-speakers here instead of French, First Nations, or Inuit) and there are regional variations to be sure, but those unfamiliar with it could have difficultly in distinguishing it from American accents - differences can be subtle and even Canadians sometimes have difficulties to tell.

It seems to me there is more regional diversity in American accents than in Canadian ones. I don't feel I have a particularly distinctive Canadian accent (I've spent a lot of time living outside Canada and I tended to "flatten" my speech to make it more comprehensible to non-native speakers). When first meeting them some of my foreign friends could tell I wasn't American and others couldn't. I used to tell them that Canadians are the only people who speak English without an accent but they didn't buy it!

Sometimes I like to think I speak English with a Vulcan accent. :vulcan:

Many Canadian actors have been in Star Trek but has there ever been a character who was identified as Canadian in-universe? There are not very many references to Canada in Star Trek.

Accent, attitude and - to a lesser extent - his interests. The Crushers (for example) come across as very "flat" in their United States temperament.
Still not sure.
Accent? Sure. Its from the southeast.
Attitude? Need more to go on.
Interests? Does he have any hobbies?

I did, but...there are many articles to sift through.

It takes me to an article about chronology and a mental fan who created a forum on which he was all of the members?
Weird, it takes me directly to the post in question using the Tumblr app, but if I open in Chrome or on desktop it opens random ones:rolleyes:
Since I cannot link you to it due to Tumblr's dying broken-ness, this is the best I can do:

Memory Beta says that Nurse Ogawa is from BC. I'm not sure where they're getting that from.

Some interesting stuff there.

I don't know why Brannon Braga maintains that the Xindi storyline wasn't influenced by or based on 9/11. It so clearly was.

Thank you, F. King Daniel. Sadly, some of the text in that image is so tiny that I can't read it without going cross-eyed.

Same. There was enough for me to get the general idea though.

There are lots of things mentioned that I don't feel are unique to ENT. Bad writing for women, secondary characters underwritten, a general theme of colonialism and characters sometimes forced into situations where they have to make morally questionable decisions...

He makes interesting points. Just not points I feel are specifically problems with ENT and ENT only.

I agree. I think the bigger point is that ENT kind of doubled down on a lot of these ideas, and strongly emphasized them, vs. other shows.

Personally, as I read it I go, "Yeah, those are problems but are they exclusively US or right wing problems or just problems with how the runners approached the show?" Reading a lot of the quotes gives me more of an idea that they had an conceptualization of Star Trek: arrogant leading man (Kirk), logical advisor often butt of jokes (Spock) and someone with a bit of "folksy wisdom" (McCoy). As the author of the Tumblr post notes this is a pop culture understanding of TOS, not actually watching the show. But, by doubling down on these pop culture ideas in to one show it really made it all the more apparent how ENT missed the other parts of Trek.

I still call bollocks on Brannon Braga saying the parallels to be drawn between 9/11 and the Xindi attack were unintentional. How could they be? Those involved, all involved must have at least felt that. Also, from my point of view it's good. For better or worse it makes Enterprise relevant to the time it came from.

Indeed. Living in the US that impacted everyone. I recall my abnormal psychology professor talking about how to manage mental health during that time. It had a massive cultural impact that is still being felt. "Unintentional?" I doubt it.
