Is Dark of the Moon more like Transformers 1 or 2?

I haven't seen it and was just wondering whether I should rent it as it came out on dvd last week.

Wanted to make sure it was good like Transformers 1 or unbeliveably misfocused like Transformers 2.

Please keep replies spoiler free, thanks.

Wait... Transformers 1 was good?!

Most here seemed to enjoy it, but personally I found it just as awful and cringe-inducing as the second one. Which is a shame, because I enjoyed the heck out of the first movie.

Definitely 2... in that it was absolutely awful.
I only relented in going after reading that Bay had admitted 2 was pretty poor and had learnt his lessons. Well, he didn't.

Not to say that I thought 1 was amazing, but compared to the other 2 its at least watchable

It's half way in between. not as headache inducing as 2 but not nearly as good as 1. Sorta like its Tomatometer score(although I think 1 was underrated)

If plot focus was your biggest issue I'll say it is just as bad as 2, in that regard.

I enjoyed TF1 for all its faults, and found TF3 is every bit as terrible as TF2, just in different ways.

I'd say it's definitely more of the same from 2, but the retadedness is toned down in some places. The first one is still the best IMO.

The twins aren't in it (Apart from a few background shots). Also Optimus and the core Autobots are given more to do, instead of being brushed aside in favor of the twins.

The Twins were bad but it's not my biggest gripe. I just hated the fact that the story jumped around all over the place with a lot of (sometimes admittedly cool) action sequences but as a whole didn't gel.

Will probably watch it sometime.

The action scene at the end of this one is even longer, but somewhat better edited and less choppy than the Egyptian battle at the end of the film.

There's also less of the Transforming gimmick this time, and with less logic. Laserbeak, a bird-like Transformer, seems to transform into anything, and Sentinel Prime's robot form doesn't change although his alt mode is an Earth fire truck. Optimus has a trailer which seems to transform into something different every time. (Then again, better than it just dissiapearing like in the cartoon).

In the original film it was quite clear that the robots look different before they scanned their earth vehichle modes.

I loved the first Bay Transformers film. (I know many people loathe all three of them. Oh well.) The second film was a disjointed mess. The third movie had a more cohesive story than the second film's story, but it wasn't as good as the first. In terms of sheer over-the-top action, the third movie reigns supreme.

The third one goes absolutely over the top in making Optimus Prime a death on rollerskates, bloodthirsty psychopath, so it was kind of amazing for that reason alone.

It's a terrible, terrible movie. And one of the most offensively misogynistic ones I've had the displeasure of seeing in quite some time.

If you must see it, download it. Don't give them anymore money. Please.

Yep, that pretty much sums up my thoughts. :)

TF1 was great. I can still pop that one in and enjoy it. Megan Fox's ab shot is still insane. Just didn't like the secret agent cheese.

TF2 was ass. A couple of good fights, but overall: ass. Don't care about perceived racism or whatever, it was just nonsensical and poorly edited. Things also felt more cartoony this time around, with too much secret agent bullshit and the military not seeming realworld anymore.

TF3 had potential, and some of the fight scenes were pretty cool, but again, the plot was all over the place and the film was really just too long. The final third of the film was one-continuous SFX shot like an unskippable video game cutscene. Looked real pretty, but I was completely uninterested.

And the new girl sucked compared to Megan Fox. Changing her out was stupid. She was supposedly the love of Shia's life and then, oh-nope, she's not, there's this other chick we have to waste half the movie trying to build up and get invested in. Ugh.

Huge disappointment.
