Is Circumcision Right or Wrong?

Recently there has been talk about the harmful effects of circumcision
on sexual health. Some men who have been severely affected by circumcision have even considered nonsurgical restoration to grow back their foreskins. Foreskin restoration does not grow back nerves or complex anatomy, but it restores skin through mitosis. Personally, I strongly believe that circumcision is a violation of bodily rights, so much so, that I am an intactivist.

A new option called foreskin regeneration which can restore EVERYTHING may be available for men in the near future. I've started a petition for foreskin regeneration if anybody wants to sign it. Petition is at the link below:http://www.restore-foreskin.com/petition.htm

The petition's aim is to get congress to pass legislation to protect bodily rights and to urge medical communities to research foreskin regeneration. It is my hope that through this message, they will consider foreskin regeneration research sometime in the future, if not now. If you oppose circumcision or support foreskin regeneration, be sure to sign. The currently goal is 10,000 signatures.

I would also like to know everyone's stand on circumcision. Do you think it's right or wrong? I know many people believe it's wrong, but I want to know WHY you think it's wrong and if you think it's right, why do you think it's right? Discuss.

Oh here we go.

I hope this thread doesn't get out of hand, but they usually do. I am uncircumcised. I am against circumcision. If it's not for a medical reason, I don't see it serving much of a purpose.

Here's also hoping this doesn't get out of hand (although it might be entertaining if it does).

I've got nothing against circumcising for religious reasons, as I understand Jewish people do. However, if there is no medical necessity or religious obligation to do it, I would recommend that parents leave their children uncircumcised until they are old enough to chose for themselves whether they want it. If we were generally healthier without foreskins, nature would not have given them to us. It's like tonsils; for awhile it was believed that they should be routinely removed from children, but eventually the experts figured out that nature gave us tonsils because we are better off with them.

Having said that, I can understand why this cause often gets so little support among men in the USA. Most of us were circumcised as infants, and most of us certainly don't feel damaged or harmed by it, and we can't remember what the procedure felt like, so when we see circumcision described as "mutilation", its tempting to roll one's eyes and say, "Yeah right." The cause might get taken more seriously if some of the rhetoric were toned down. This is NOT a reference to the original poster.

So, we're talking about some kind of medical procedure to grow foreskin back? Am I reading that right?

Circumsized, as was common here when I was born. Also had my tonsils removed about two years later. No big deal in either case. What other people do with their dicks is not a matter of deep personal concern to me as long as they're not bothering anyone else.

How do you circumcise a whale?

Foreskin divers.

It's not common practise over here to circumcise male children except for religious or medical reasons. We regard the US propensity for doing so as another quaint custom like the mass ownership of firearms.

Pretty much this, except that I respect it being done for religious reasons.

Now that both the Canadian and US Medical Associations have gone back to not recommending circumcision except for medical reasons I hope that the practice will go into decline.
