Is Burnham the least engaging of the Discovery Characters?

So far I have found myself surprised to find that I am interested in just about every other major (and sometimes minor) character on Star trek Discovery. I can't quite figure out if it is the actress herself or just the writing.
Does anyone else feel similarly?

I've enjoyed her portrayal in all episodes, with a few notable moments excepted. (Yep, the attempted mutiny being the main one).

This was the first ep where they gave SMG a character to play, I thought. Kinda shocking we're halfway through the season and it's still unclear how Vulcan-ish she's supposed to be.

No. I like her. Writing of the mutiny thing could have been better handled, but other than that the character has been well written and Martin-Green is doing great job. I really don't understand all these complaints.

Love the character and Sonequa's performance. I don't think it's an easy role to pull off. She playing a human who lost her parents as a child, was raised to Vulcan cold and logical standards and has been living with humans for a couple of years now. She's cool and intelligent, but also very emotional, caring and sometimes cocky. I mean, how do you play that?!

It also doesn't help that she sometimes gets some of the weirdest and most stilted dialog on the show. But I think out of the gate she's one of the most fascinating characters at the start of any Star Trek series.

She's awkward and weird because of her time on vulcan and a screw up because she's had to deal with living up to unreasonable expectations

I like her, not my favourite character, but she has potential.

Dunno, but am I the only one getting a Maurice Moss vibe? Its the same hair, nearly.

Really?

I mean maybe if her and Tilly had a son that time traveled back to early 2000's England...

Oh god, that's going to be a fanfic now.

Least engaging? No. Ash Tyler is doing noting for me at all so far. He's a complete nonentity, although this is arguably just to make him seem unassuming when the reveal of his true identity is given.

After that, perhaps.

I don't get the dislike. As far as I'm concerned she's far and away the best character.

Lorca isn't anything that hasn't already been done much better on a different show. Well, no one can smash a fortune cookie like he can.

Tilly is saccharine AF. (And Burnham's mirror queen, apparently.) Loosen up, Tilly.

I want to ganglia Saru's threat across his shiny head.

Stamets is really the only other character with any redeeming qualities. Dude knows how to party. And probs Culber too.

And it's too early to tell about Cheekbones. Although if he ends up being a Klingon, that'd be totes awesome.

Can't Stand Michael as a CHARACTER.. Never liked her acting, and never liked her style.. She's not engaging, she's kinda a caricature of a character at this point. It's the writing.. she wasn't right for the part IMHO.. The part was written for a man, being played by a woman, with a man's name.. maybe they should have cast a guy named Susan, and went from there on..

But what they should have done was Cast that actress as a different person, back story and all, with a more tailored personality to her, then going with what the writers are trying to write her as..The writing is making her acting (tho not a fan of her performances) seem worse because they are writing for someone they don't know, and the writing of Michael Burnham is not fitting with the actress trying her best to make it work.

I think Tilly is probably the most obnoxious.

I really like her; i find her terribly relatable. She is the "everyman" of the series in a way we haven't seen before. I agree with the poster above that so far Saru is probably the weak link, though he's had a couple of standout moments.

I expect we'll warm to him eventually as we explore him more.
