Is Blockbuster going out of business?

Really - do we need to keep resurrecting threads? I'll leave this one be, but if you have news to post and there hasn't been activity in a thread in over a month, just start a new thread. Pretty please!

What is the point of having a search function if members can't locate a previous discussion and revive it with new information?

thread ages and posting

I totally agree.

A month old?
For a forum that has 16,127 Members and with 3,049 being Active Members the age of the thread (under six months) should be irrelevant as the mods should want to keep the overall number of new and redundant threads down.
Encouraging starting new threads adds clutter and too many threads on the same subject.
I prefer threads by topic not by headline news title of the day this way they are more generalized for example on the TV & Media subforum we don't need 6 threads on the new A-Team movie. One thread will suffice at least until the DVD/Blu-ray is released.

LIke Kelso I like being able to use the search tool and read up on what other members have already posted on a topic and sometimes add to the topic.
I would like to ask is the one-month-old-post request from mrcoaster or in this subforum [only], all the mods on TrekBBS or from T’Bonz himself?

They're closing, slowly be surely.

Oddly enough, Family Video is OPENING stores around here. :wtf:
I thought as much. The old video stores will return. There will still be a need for physical media and therefore video stores for some time to come. People like my parents aren't going to watch entire movies on the computer and they don't always find what they want on demand. Sometimes you just want to watch an old favorite and it's not in the catalog. So a decent corner video store is still very welcome.

In my area, both Blockbuster and Family Video are shutting down locations left and right. Also, a third chain, Hollywood Video, seems on the verge of collapse.

With Netflix, Redbox, and Hulu, I really have no desire to go into a video store these days. <shrug>

The Hollywood Video in my area is shutting down its door, which I figured was coming soon. Yesterday, there was someone street, wide with a sign, advertising movies for sale and that the store was going out of business. I am surprised that the Blockbuster, which is catty-corner, is still open. The other Blockbuster location, about half-a-mile away, closed up and was cleaned out as of last fall.
