Is Bartell Larue still alive ? :The voice of the Guardian

Re: Is Bartell LaRue still alive ?

You could have found your answer faster using Google, you know, don't you, DumbDumb?

What's the use...

First you have to know how many O's there are in Google.

Oh, BTW Generalissimo Francisco Franco is still dead -- just like Trip. ;)

My constant refrain around here.

Besides, I suspect it's not about information, it's about rank. ;) These questions might as well be "Can fish talk?" or "How big's the sky?"

Re: Is Bartell LaRue still alive ?

^ I may be playing "Dumbdumb's advocate" here, but I know, speaking for myself, asking my fellow trek enthusiasts/SF fans about things is a lot less impersonal than using a search engine. It gives one at a least a slight sense of human interaction. Especially when one finds one's self spending large quantities of time alone...

That's just my two quatloos... :D

Re: Is Bartell LaRue still alive ?

And conversation is our goal. What else are we going to talk about other than the obvious?

I understand all that.

It's just that I find posts by DumbDumb especially inane but that's my problem, not his.

Mostly.

It's a problem we all share.

Re: Is Bartell LaRue still alive ?

I really like questions like this because we learn about Trek this way. For instance, I now know who voiced the guardian and when he died - didn't know that before I read this. If it ever comes up in a trivia game I'm all set now!

Re: Is Bartell LaRue still alive ?

The voice of the Guardian in Yesteryear (animated series episode) was SO goofy and disappointing. I believe James Doohan did that one, and I'm thinking "oh come ON...!" I suppose it could well be that he never saw the original episode and neither had the producers or director...

I know Jimmy could've come a lot closer to the original sound of the Guardian, if so directed. I recall he was the voice of Sargon in the original series, and probably a couple of other deep, solemn, echoey alien voices, too...

Re: Is Bartell Larue still alive ? :The voice of the Guardia

^^^Frankly, to my way of thinking, why they died is kind of a morbid thing to ask. It's sad that they're gone...but I don't care to know what they suffered from. It's the life that matters, no matter how short, not the cause of death.

Maybe. I think it's perfectly normal for most people to wonder how someone died. When someone dies, whether it's a celebrity or a friend or co-worker, the first question people usually ask is "What happened?"

As I stated in my post, I was surprised to see so many of those actors die at a young age. If they were in their 70's or 80's, it wouldn't be much of a shock, but there are people listed in their 40's & 50's which begs the question - "What happened?"

I have a memorial on my website if anyone would like to view it.
U.S.S. Excalibur's Star Trek Memorial.

Great site. I visit it every now and then. What's surprising is the young ages of many of those who died.

One suggestion (and it's a big one) is if you could add the cause of death (if known.)
I have thought about doing that but as mentioned, it is a bit morbid.
I agree (pretty much at any age) people ask "how did they die?" (myself included).
After asking family, friends co-workers and such, more people (like a 75-25 ratio) said it would be a bit to morbid so I decided against listing how they died.
There are enough sites on the net that list how people died so I just figured folks could just look it up for themselves if they were that interested in knowing.
Just so ya know I do appreciate any an all input though.
