So the species is known of. Though how well, not sure.

So the species is known of. Though how well, not sure.
I'm not saying I want them, but I'm not aware of any canonical date established for first contact with the Cardassians, so I think you could probably use them if you wanted. I know they were never seen or mentioned in TOS or the TOS-era movies, but that doesn't mean they weren't there.
I would like to see the Sheliak, Tholians, Orions, Caitians, Deltans, and Nausicaans. I'm also cool with having the Trill on the show. Perhaps some Xindi as well. I wouldn't mind if they encountered the Cardassians. I don't think it's established in canon when first contact with the Cardassians was made.

Michael Burnham and the Tholian can have a light-saber battle.
Would love them to revisit the Tholians, Gorn, or maybe the Melkotians or First Federation. Enterprise kind of flirted with the first two, but nothing substantive or focused.
Had Enterprise seen a 5th season, Manny Coto was planning on re-introducing the Kzinti for the first time since TAS. They even had a concept model of the Kzinti battlecruiser made in pre-production. Now THAT would be an interesting episode or two, especially since today's visual technology could quite easily make them as CG characters, as opposed to cheap looking men-in-suits. I could even see them become Discovery's primary adversary. Different and fresh in the greater pantheon of Trek, yet canonical and familiar.

They should only use what TOS species were there in ENT and what few species from chronologically after TOS that ENT brought up and weren't the Borg.
