Is Amy bi?

In Bones' defense, I thought the punchline was fine -- and funny. :)

From my experience, a bipolar person will be a completely different person when she's in the manic state than when she's in the depressed state. It's not the extreme of an MPD, but the personality and behaviors will be different enough to be noticeable.

Does it? Well fuck-de-do. I've just told my GF what you said and what she said was "well somebodies over reacted and probably got issues."

For the same reason it matters if Captain Jack is bisexual (or omnisexual, if you prefer): Because it increases our understanding of the character.
 If the only way you can fully understand a character is by knowing who they boff then you are a very sad person. Who they sleep with shouldn't matter.

Um, no, thanks. But as a strong advocate for LGBT equality,
So am I.

I'm curious as to whether we can take this as an indication that Amy Pond is bisexual or not. )
Why does it matter whether she is or not? It doesn't add anything to the character. Why is who she has sex with so important?

(Believe it or not, bisexuals exist entirely independently of heterosexual male stereotypes of them, and are in fact not the living embodiments of distasteful straight male fantasies, but, rather, actual human beings.)
I'm quite aware of the wide range of the sexuality spectrum. Ranging from Homosexuality to varying degrees of bisexuality to heteosexuality and even asexuality.

I can see the point of your complaint, but do we need the judgementalism toward strait males?
The topic was started off by a male asking whether she's bi or not. In most cases (not all but most) on a tv show form when a male asks this type of question about a female character's sexuality it's usually for masturbatory purposes.

Oh, come off it. It's a legitimate question.
No it's not. It's a stupid childish question. Most male fans who would ask a question like this are saddos who want to do the five knuckle shuffle while thinking of Amy doing herself or another woman.

We've never seen Amy flirt with anyone other than the Doctor, Rory, or Vincent van Gogh before. If she's flirting with a woman -- herself -- it's legitimate to ask if this is because she's bisexual or if it's just vanity.
:wtf: That has to be one of the dumbest things I've ever seen typed. Why the hell does it matter? Or do you want it to be true so you can get your rocks off at the thought of her with herself or another woman?

I must admit I did actually ask if it actually mattered when I first wrote the original post, but I decided to not include it because of, well, because I thought it would be interesting to see some of the answers.
Well the question you did ask makes you come off as a creepy perv looking for new material to add to your spank bank.
Are you implying that masturbation is a bad thing?

No, I don't think Amy is bisexual. Her bahaviour in the Comic Relief thing can be attributed to:

-She's being narcissistic, which I see a few others think as well.

-Girls do have a tendancy to be kind of flirty around other girls without being gay or bi.

We know she has a thing for Roman soldiers and she thought her friend Jeff was good looking.

Wouldn't getting off on yourself simply be masturbation? :p

According to Robot Chicken, yes.

Why does this have to be ripped apart and analysed? It was a ten minute special for Comic Relief. Why can't we just enjoy it for what it is, and not worry about the consequences of a good looking woman flirting with herself... I'll be in my bunk.

but how many people think of themselves when they masturbate, in my younger years I was normally thinking of a girl I liked, not myself, which is what would be going on if I (or Amy) was having sex with my clone/future/past/alternate/robot self.

That said it would probaly be ok if my alternate self was female, or my future self was female, as for some reason ive had a sex change in the future, and have come back in time, to give myself the idea of having a sex change, in a WWTW kinda way.

However I think I may have gone distracted from the main part of my post.

Having sex with oneself as not exactly like masturbation, and also maybe its differnt for girls, but im not sure why I would want to penetrate my other self, I wouldnt like it, so why would he?

this post has raised more questions than answers

You sleep with a copy of Robert Heinlein's "All You Zombies" under your pillow every night, don't you? ;)

having looked it up

All You Zombies—'" chronicles a young man (later revealed to be intersex) taken back in time and tricked into impregnating his younger, female self (before he underwent a sex change); he thus turns out to be the offspring of that union, with the paradoxical result that he is his own mother and father. As the story unfolds, all the major characters are revealed to be the same person, at different stages of her/his life.
I can see why you think that.

Its just the randomness of my mind.

Dont let GB forum know about this, it will only lead to "Is Rory future Amy?" type threads, that forum has quite enough already.
