Is America's best days behind it? or have they yet to come?

America will have its problems and it is at the beginning of a cultural and political shift, but I personally think the UK will have more civil disorder in the near future.

The choice of Matt Smith has been controversial so I could see something coming out of that.

Bottom line: there are good times and bad in any generation. Right now we're going through a bad time. Things will change back to good, just like it always has.

As far as our economic troubles go, Obama should tax the rich. They're the ones with the money. If they donate to the treasury, things will shift. Why nobody ever thinks of this is beyond me.

There does not seem to be as much immediate and genuine suffering amongst the Western masses as there was in the 1930s, even though the number of failed businesses and unemployment is similar.

Because that would be Communism and robbery!

How the hell is it robbery to tax the people who have the money, but's it's okay to tax the rest of us who don't?

THIS is why we're in financial trouble.

I was being sarcastic when ranting that government taxes equal "Communism and robbery", but that is the popular opinion amongst far right Libetarians of the Republican Party, and low taxes is one of the reasons why California is in the shit (despite being as wealthy as Britain).

The best times for America are ahead of it. The things the OP mentioned are incredibly blown out of proportion. Do I think America will stay the lone super power? No, I don't. I don't think America will be a super power in times to come. I personally don't think it matters that much.

Oh, I see.

Okay, I missed that.
