Is a Vegetarian or Vegan Diet Healthy?

^ Preach it, brother! :techman:

Like I said, I don't particularly care if being a vegan/vegetarian is *healthy*. It might well be. But it is extremely unappealing to me. I *enjoy* eating meat. And I intend to exercise the right to do so. As long as it exists... ;)

Or, as Ron White (comedian) said: "I didn't claw my way to the top of the fuckin' food chain to eat CARROTS." :p

Healthy or not, the food you have to eat to get a balanced diet as a vegan or vegetarian is absolutely disgusting. I'll stick to being an omnivore, like we're meant to be ;)

That's a matter of personal taste. I can cook thousands of vegetarian dishes, many of them you would not know were vegetarian.

Well, to be fair, I think it's the kind of thing where one "[de]acquires a taste" for. It's like soda.

I've been soda free for years, but yesterday there was a hot group of chicks handing out free coke at the corner. (It was a promote the church thing.) I had to stop--for the girls of course--and took a coke. I took one sip and spit it out because it was so terrible.

I used to go through several 12 packs of the stuff a week.

I think a vegan diet is similar in that regard.

It can be. I remember the first time I tried soy. It was definitely different, but not unpleasant. It was easy for me to adjust, and once I found the many ways you can prepare it, I was hooked. I completely get the coke thing. The other day, by accident, I drank a regular Pepsi instead of a diet Pepsi, and I nearly gagged. I thought something had gone horribly wrong with at the bottling plant.
