Irrational prejudices you hold

Guys with long hair who don't look like they're in a hair band or are an ancient warrior. If you aren't a Viking with an electric guitar you should have normal hair.

I have long hair. I guess I'm somewhere between nerdy crazy scientist and viking

Yer hot.

That looks surprisingly like my Facebook profile picture  (I don't wear glasses, although I am wearing red/blue 3D glasses in the pic).

An interesting article about tattoos

Also wondering if the tattoo prejudice extends to ones related to Star Trek? Because one of mine is in :klingon:

Here is an irrational feeling I have, which I freely admit is childish and paranoid but I just can't shake it: I am still sort of afraid that if I walk into Fenway Park wearing Yankee gear, I will be harmed - whether it be merely having food or beer dumped all over me, or worse, actually getting my ass kicked.

This is intellectually stupid of me to think, for several reasons:

- I see Redsox fans at Yankee Stadium (I've seen many Sox/Yankee games there) and they are not harmed. Not even in the bleachers. I have even seen some Sox/Yankee fan couples. :)
- I've seen Sox/Yankee games at Fenway when they're on TV, and never any trouble
- Most fans don't take the rivalry that personally anyway and don't act like drunk jackasses. No true baseball fan would ever start a fight just for wearing the enemy colors.

So in my MIND, I know I'll be safe, but I just get so irrationally paranoid. Hard habit to break.

And I have been to Fenway before, I thought it was really cool. I would actually love to see a Yankee game there. Must get over this fear of mine. :alienblush:

My prejudices are irrational and most of all, ironic. I'm biased against Asians and females, which makes me racist and sexist.

...

Against myself.

That was interesting. I know it used to be illegal for a tattooist in Aus to tattoo your face or hands, and in fact most people I see with tatts in those areas are clearly amateur work. I associate tatts on hands with prison time if it's crude, mono colored and on a male. There is a big difference between regretting that dumbass butterfly on your butt and a dolphin on your face!!

I HATE seeing PDA. I mean, get a room!

Yeah, I know, I hate it when people are punching cellphones or BlackBerries in public. ;)

That too!

And there we find another irrational prejudice: when people are constantly on their cell phone in public places, I tend to associate it with narcissism. News flash: you are not so important that the whole world needs to hear your cell phone conversation.

So my PDA joke was not funny then? :( ;)

I agree with you 100%. :techman:

Yeah, but it wouldn't kill people to hold their voices down, get out of line and not delay everyone else while pointing and gesturing at the menu without bothering to acknowledge the clerk who has to put up with their obnoxiousness, being at the table and deciding someone on the phone is more important than their dinner companion (you had BETTER be someone who saves lives to get this privilege, in my opinion), or step outside, or even apologizing for breaking off a conversation to take a phone call. Not to mention public profanity in front of small children, and other broadcasting of details that are WAY too much information that nobody else needs to know, and letting their ringtone go off in church, at work, or other places that require respect. Sorry, but people are not absolved of basic etiquette just because they happen to be holding a phone in their hands.

And that doesn't even get into texting and cell phone use while driving.

All my predjudices are rationiol, Asians can't drive, black people are late and have a bass guitar in their basements, white men can't jump.

I think you think way too much about what others are thinking.

I don't want to know others' private business--which would be solved if people would use some basic etiquette when considering using their phone.

Actually, I think cell phone booths would be a great invention to popularize. It should become uncouth again to conduct private business in front of others.

I hate people from New Jersey. I've hated them since even before Jersey Shore and South Park made a joke out of them. I don't even know why. Hell about 40% of the students at my University are from New Jersey and if they tell me they are, I'll probably never talk to them again.

I also hate all dogs that do not look enough like wolves. That said I love German Shepherds, Siberian Huskies, and Alaskan Malamutes.

Someday, I'll gather up the courage to make a phone with my first and fingers during such a conversation, and annoy the bejeezus out of him/her with my phone conversation with my imaginary friend...

That is awesome.

Please report back after you do it.
