Iron Man 2: Build up till release DISCUSSION

I suppose that'd it be hard to get him up there with the full bulky armor they had...

They were also shooting during magic hour, so time was of the essence. Probably didn't want to be mucking around with a suit when you have 15 minutes to get your shot.

That's not a knee cap, that's his glove.

Even more impressive.

I think it would be funny if we saw Stark waiting in line to buy donuts.

Sort of like Spider-Man 2 when Parker is in the elevator.

and didn't want to just recycle the old Mark 3 suit

Well the mark 3 is still totaled. In Stark fashion "Why repair it when you can improve upon it/build another?"

MARK I - Reconstruction
MARK II - Prototype
MARK III - Battle Damaged or Badly Damaged
MARK IV - Awaiting Upgrade

And I AM glad that when they made this movie they didn't just have Tony use another "copy" of the last movie's suit. And the Mark IV is still similar enough to the original suit aside from subtle differences in the shoulder pads, gauntlets and chest to not look completely alien. But it also suits Tony's personality from the comics. I mean the Mark 3 was basically a suit he used for really two battles. The one in Gulmira and with Monger. After that, part of the suit's purpose was for showing off and doing some odd hero work here and there. Mostly I think its Tony's new favorite toy. He probably wears the armor to pick up his own damn dry cleaning LOL since after all, Pepper is the new Stark CEO.

I'm still curious to see how the whole "Natalie/Natalia/Natasha" thing works out in the film. I don't really want to read the novel because I know it won't feel like the movie and y'know I want to be surprised! But I'm wondering if she'll be playing the good girl for the most part or if she'll be like her Ultimates incarnation and sort of a double agent, who screwed Tony so she could get access to his armor tech. I still think the latter will be in the film, she'll flirt and be well... ScarJo... woman can get a rise out of a frakkin' statue!, but I think she's working more for SHIELD than the KGB.

Seems like there's a lot of movie in this movie. Whiplash, Hammer and his armored drones, Black Widow, the Stark Expo, intro of War Machine. Gonna be a big ass movie.

Still not sold on the look of whiplash but all the new armors have me giddy with excitement. Now if we get one with a nose and roller skates I will fall out of my chair while watching.

If they want to include Black Widow in any future films--such as has been rumoured for Avengers (and I'd love to see her star in a Russian-themed film of her own, myself)--then they would really have to make her one of the good guys in the end. And I do believe one of the posters we've seen has her crouching off to the side in a SHIELD uniform (though, given that this is Black Widow, she might have just stolen it).

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman

there's a SHIELD patch on her sleeve in the domestic poster i believe and less visibly in her Wondercon solo poster

I think it's funny they could make an Iron Man suit that could move it's neck quicker than the Batman movies could figure it out!

Prepare to weep, bitches: Iron Man 2 will be released on April 28 over here! A whole week before youse!

I'm looking forward to Iron Man 2 but It's kind of been overshadowed for me by all the news about Captain America and Thor. I'm looking forward to seeing Evans as Cap and I'm going crazy with anticipation at what Branagh is going to do with Thor. I loved his version of Frankenstein. I've already seen a great Iron Man moviebut I've only seen shitty Captain America movies. :D

I wonder if that's a soon to be deleted scene? At least the part with him running out or just a part they changed in favor of "you complete me?" I mean a part of it feels almost "too" crisp and smooth, like it's semi-final CGI but not "final final" dunno.

I hope they keep the original one we saw in the trailers. Course wouldn't be the first time they changed something at the last minute in the movie. I recall that scene where Tony returns to his house and does that Minority Report like computer screen thing "Fire up the scanners" line was cut and they put it in the deleted scenes so maybe You complete me is in that category too. Although I like what we've seen before better, better than him just running out of the plane.

BUT a part of me wonders if they do the same gag with Tony jumping out of a plane in the suit twice? Unless he uses the same plane and jumps out the back on the way back from Monte Carlo and goes after Hammer's goons or something. Because you never do see him retrieve his helmet, so maybe there's another scene with him doing a jump... grabbing his helmet and laying some kickass on something...

I just couldn't help but laugh my butt off watching that scene. Tony Stark's incredible vanity is one of the reasons I love the character so much. So. Awesome.

Watching the trailer again as comparison, I'm pretty sure they are two separate scenes. The "you complete me" part in the trailer begins with Tony asking for a kiss because he "might not make it back." Sounds like he's on his way to a fight rather than an expo. Plus, the plane's already open as they speak and he jumps with his back down.

In this new scene, he's already got his helmet on before the plane even opens, Pepper's nowhere in sight, and he dives stomach first.

I don't think he's jumping into a fight in the first version. That's based primarily on Pepper's actions. She doesn't seem to feel he's in any danger what-so-ever. At least that's the way I see it.

Now I do have a question though.

Last time we got Nick Fury and an Avengers hint, what do people think will be in the post credits sequence this time around?

i think the Avengers links are more in the main story this time, since Fury's in it more. i think he's actively trying to recruit Tony. and Tony's refusing. Black Widow may be hinted at as being part of his team...

This seems to be a significant departure from the comics, where Nick Fury had no part in the formation of the Avengers (as far as I know).

In the Ultimate Marvel universe, Nick Fury (who is based on Samuel L. Jackson in that universe) is a founding member and the leader of the Ultimates (the Ultimate Marvel iteration of the Avengers). So that's probably what inspired Fury's involvement in the formation of the Avengers in the films.
