"Iron Giant"

I didn't realize he did The Incredibles. I still haven't seen that either. Looks like it needs to be added to the list.

One of my all time favorite animated movies.

The look and the feel of the 50's cold war feeling and the nod to the B monster movies of the time was classic!

Even the military in are being misled by an idiot and not idiots themselves. The General was a riot in his dislike for the FBI Macarthy ERA nutjob.

"Where is the Robot Mansely?" as the Nuke is fired after the moron agent ordered it in a panic and its homing in on the Giant standing right before them in the center of town.

Haha Classic!

The air sirens going off and the Hipster's quote telling the mother that going to a shelter won't make a difference was chilling.

and the quote 'Superman' still brings a tear to my eye.

I loved this about it. I am so tired of movies depicting military officers as nothing more than trigger-happy morons. As soon as the General was told the truth, he backed off and started acting reasonable.

Kent  I like his reaction when he sees the big hole in is car.

Almost every scene with Kent was hilarious! I love this movie and its so awesome to see that like is shared by so many.

Kent Mansely : You know, Hogarth, we live in a strange and wondrous time: the Atomic Age. But there's a dark side to progress, Hogarth. Ever hear of Sputnik?

Hogarth: Yeah, first satellite in space.

Kent Mansely : Foreign satellite, Hogarth, and all that that implies. Even now it orbits overhead - Boop! Boop! - watching us. We can't see it but it's there, much like that giant thing in the woods. We don't know what it is or what it can do. I don't feel safe, Hogarth. Do you?

Hogarth : What are you talking about?

Kent Mansely : What am I talking about?
[Loses patience]

Kent Mansely : What am I talking about? I'm talking about your goldarned security, Hogarth! While you're snoozing in your widdle jammies, back in Washington we're wide awake and worried! Why? Because everyone wants what we have, Hogarth! Everyone! You think this metal man is fun, but who built it? The Russians? The Chinese? Martians? Canadians? I don't care! All I know is we didn't build it, and that's reason enough to assume the worst and blow it to kingdom come! Now, you are going to tell me about this thing, you are going to lead me to it, and we are going to destroy it before it destroys us!

This is a classic animated film...well film in every regard :)

It's a wonderful movie, and I always get a kick out of surprising people by telling them it was written by Sylvia Plath's husband.

Where is the Blu-Ray version of this movie, anyway. It's been ages since I've seen it, and I'd like to watch it again. I remember the cold war references being particularly amusing.

The Iron Giant is one of those films that never gets old. I can watch it several times over and not get sick of it. One of my all-time favorites.

I really need to see this sometime.

I loved the Ted Hughes novel as a kid, but somehow have never got around to watching the film adaptation. I understand it just uses some basic common elements and takes the story in a whole different direction, but still, it's got enough good reviews that I really ought to watch it. I'll keep an eye out for when it's on TV.
