"Iron Giant"

I just watched this movie for the first time last night, and I thought it was great! It had much more of an adult theme than I was expecting, but the story was still very simple. I had no idea Jennifer Anniston was in it, and I found her voice work to be pretty impressive since I've never really seen her in much other than crappy romantic comedies and FRIENDS (actually, now that I think about it, I want to rewatch "The Breakup").

A great movie and the ending isn't as sad as people make it out to be,
at least once you see it through to the end and you know he's not really dead.

1. Great movie.

2. Watch "Office Space", another great movie with Jennifer Anniston.

The scene where the kid was warning him about scaring people and he did the "wiggle your fingers in your ears" thing just made me fall out of my chair laughing. It's on my list of top 10 comedy moments for me.

Incredible Brad Bird film. He showed it wasn't a fluke, either, when he did The Incredibles for Pixar.

"I..am not...a gun."

I loved the homages to classic science fiction movies as well, with stuff suggestive of War of the Worlds, The Day The Earth Stood Still and old Kaiju movies.

If The Iron Giant and The Incredibles were the only two things Brad bird had ever done, he could rest easy and be known for greatness.

Love "The Iron Giant". One of my favorites.

Yep...I agree. The nailed the 'feel' of that time quite well. The voice talent was spot on...and it IS a sad movie. They need a sequel but only if the powers behind the first one did it...

I think it got 'lost' during the sell of the studio around the time it came out thus it didn't get any pr..

It's a wonderful movie.
It's a good thing I've never cried while watching it. :shifty:

Fantastic film and is one of many great examples of animation being a medium for all ages.

Brilliant film. One of my favorite animated movies of all time.

The feel of the cold war 50's is so perfectly realized, all the way down to the "Duck and Cover" video in Hogarth's school.

Beautifully done. Now where's the sequel??

:techman:

loved it, saw it in the theaters twice, & have the dvd. I wish there were more traditional animted films like it. I think Disney should focus on adapting stories like this for 2d instead of trying to mimic their hit fairytales of the 90's like they did with Princess and the Frog.

Absolutely agreed. The Iron Giant is one of the best animated films out there, and IMO it doesn't really even need to be singled out as being "animated." It's just a great movie.
