iPad e-mail issue

My mom has an iPad mini, and apparently hasn't been able to send an e-mail since for several months now. Everything else seems to work fine though.
I don't have any Apple products anymore, but I had her press the off and home buttons simultaneously to restart the device, and nothing happened, then I had her delete and re-add the e-mail account, again, nothing. I've looked on line and there isn't much about this problem that those two resolutions didn't resolve.
She claims that she took it to the Apple store, and they couldn't fix it either, which gave her an excuse to endlessly rant about how stupid technology is today.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks,
Kirby

If the people at the store couldn't help, I doubt I will be able to. But what exactly happens when she tries to send an email?

She just gets a mail delivery error on every single e-mail. Part of me wonders if it's a user issue.

If I had to guess, I'd say she's set it up with the wrong type of authentication or the wrong port number. Maybe the ISP has a FAQ on how to properly configure it.

Check the outgoing email settings. Something is most likely entered wrong. I've done tech support and this is the issue most of the time.

Thanks all for the advice. She still claims that it worked just fine before, and she didn't make any changes to anything. She can still receive e-mail, just not send it. I think it's just going to have to wait until I can mess with it at Thanksgiving.
Fortunately she has a laptop that works fine, so she can still e-mail (for now).
