iPad advice please.

I got an iPad a few months ago for my birthday, and I love it and want to use it more. Bottom line: I want a keyboard.

I am budget conscious, and seeing that at Target and such places, these things cost upwards of $70.
I hear that Apple designs products to only be used with their accessories.

However I saw this on Amazon, but I'm not sure if I should go for it. Something tells me I'm missing something.

Do you think I should get it, or should I just invest in the Apple brand.
Thanks!

No you can use Apple products with 3rd party accessories.

For example there's the Zogg keyboard and case for the iPAD though that's higher than what you want to pay.

But the simple fact is if you buy a product that's marked as being compatiable with your iPad and it's not you should be able to return it and get a refund.

I've used rubber fold-out keyboards before, and quite frankly they suck, unless you're just using it for a once-in-a-while thing. Regular use of it is just going to hurt your fingers. But for all I know, the brand you linked might be better than what I've used in the past.

This is probably way out of your price range, but there are small devices that project a virtual keyboard onto a flat surface via laser. Those things are awesome, but pricey. Honestly, I'd suggest you just get a new slim Apple bluetooth keyboard. I think you'll find they work the best.

I have an iPad and if I wanted a portable keyboard I'd probably look for one of those case/keyboard combos. A colleague of mine has that (it's third party) and he's very happy with it.

I had a colleague who got one of those to use with his laptop and hated it so much he offered it to me. I think I used it for 2min. and gave it back. Absolutely awful, terrible crap. How would that even get past the design stage?

Thanks for all the advice, I considered much of it very carefully. It turns out that today was the last day Targus bluetooth keyboards were sale at Radio Shack.. it is a little black thing that works fine, is not rubber and fits into the case I am using for my iPad.

Thanks.

If you're gonna buy a keyboard with the plan to type a LOT, I'd suggest testing it out before you do, or making sure you can return it no hassle if you hate the feel of it.
