Iowa Public TV to stop showing ClassicWho after 30 Years : (

I find this disappointing because it feels like I had just started watching ClassicWho on there. In the December of 2007 I started watching ClassicWho with "The Kinda" and followed the show all the way to the seventh Doctor's era. There's only two or three serials of Doctor Seven left and instead of going back to th earliest episodes they have the rights to they're just going to stop.

IPTV claims that they're stopping it because it's too expensive -- although they're still going to show re-runs of NuWho. It seems to me like NuWho would be more expensive than ClassicWho. I know that the station was in danger of going under with America's sucky economy and all so there's sort of a logical reason for this, but darn.

It's just Kinda and it's not surprising that they can't keep both the old and the new series on at the same time.

What?! This is horrible! I first saw Doctor Who years ago on IPTV's Sci-Fi Friday Night (and later Sci-Fi Saturday Night when they moved it to Saturday). Now I know how Obi-Wan felt when Alderaan got destroyed... :(

This is a huge bummer! back in the day I used to watch IPTs Sci-Fi Friday/Saturdays all the time, the block introduced me to Blake's 7, Starcops, Space Island One, and other shows. At least nowadays we have the option of DVDs.

you guys are lucky to get Classic Who on public TV, aside from a VERY limited amount of episodes on BBC 4, (by that I mean 1 maybe 2 a year) the only place that shows Classic Who is really pay TV.

you guys probaly think that the BBC is always repeating Classic Who, but its just not the case.

Well that explains why it wasn't on the programming guide this week. And this sucks.

I've been watching this time around pretty much continuously since the Key to Time. That's been quite a while. Granted, they skipped a lot of episodes, but still it was nice to have something new every week.

And it's a shame they ended their 30 year run with such a craptastic story.

Yeah just think Dr. Who ended it's 26 year run with Survival as well. ;)

Another IPTV Blake's 7 fan here, too! I remember missing Terminal, the last episode of season 3, and wondering WTF was going on when I tuned in and saw the Scorpio instead of the Liberator! Nothing said Friday night like curling up on the couch to impatiently wait through Jack Horkimer's StarGazer (I always hated that) to see some Red Dwarf, Doctor Who, and Blake's 7.

I was wondering what they'd do with ClassicWho. Last time I checked they were on McCoy's serial "The Greatest Show in the Galaxy"

I was checking up to see what they would do because it was getting close to the end of "Doctor Who" from a 1989 perspective

They could have gone back to the beginning of their collection. I guess all those ClassicWho episode cost alot because there's so many serials

NUWho only has 4 seasons that they can milk forever(and have done so) Thank goodness season 2 of NUWHO is over! Now I can finally watch the semi new confidentials.

It's really too bad, I almost always watch classic Who on my local IPTV. I was looking forward to them cycling back to the first Doctor since I started watching during the Tom Baker episodes.

Yeah I've been watching it and I get a kick out of the ringmaster, the way he talks is hilarious.

That sucks. WYBE (a public TV station in Philly, but not a PBS affiliate) aired Classic Who up until a few years ago, and I've really missed it. They actually got all the way to "Survival," then started over with "An Unearthy Child" shortly before they lost/gave up their license.

I was really disappointed by that, because I've seen a decent number of both Bakers, Davison, and McCoy, but only a few Pertwees, very little Hartnell, and no Troughton (apart from his appearances in "Three Doctors," "Five Doctors," and "Two Doctors").

He's played by Rico Ross and been in a lot of movies including Aliens and Mission Impossible, it was pretty amazing seeing him in Dr. Who.
