ionizing radiation symbol. WTF?

This is the ISO 21482:2007 symbol for ionizing radiation hazard, such as we'd put on something that will remain dangerous for thousands of years.

So how would you interpret it?

Perhaps the weird corkscrew arrows represent DNA strands (a virus), which are blown into the air by the fan at top. The virus then falls on a corpse (the skull and bones) and reanimates it into a fast zombie.

Well obviously the little arrows don't represent particles (as would a stream of dots) or waves (which would be drawn like waves of sound comng out of a speaker ))))

Clearly they represent the helical shape of DNA, indicating a biological threat from a virus or retrovirus, easily counteracted with a handkerchief soaked in a little common household bleach.
