Inverse Relationship Between Movie Trailers and Discussion Topics

Samuel T. Cogley

The movie trailers for "Into Darkness" are so action-packed and exciting, moreso than those for any Star Trek movie or television series that has come before.

And yet the subject matter being discussed in this forum seems to range from wildly exciting topics like grey jumpsuits to some dude who bought a safe and then returned it.

Is there an inverse relationship between how exciting the trailers are, and how dull the thread topics are? (This thread included, of course.)

Please post a dull response below, and we can get to the bottom of this mystery.

No, it's just that the trailers for these movies are mostly the same footage over and over again, which makes discussion of them monotonous once you get past the novelty of the new footage.. The threads for the Empire pics are a bit more lively.

Maybe if the script were available online like the Nemesis one was we'd have something of merit to discuss. Since it's not we have to talk about clothing and registry numbers.

Alice Eve's boobs are pretty exciting. But we're afraid that if we discuss those, Gene Roddenberry will go blind.

It's a matter of protecting Gene's vision.

Nemesis? There was nothing of merit to discuss.

Blah, blah, blah... on to more exciting things:

I noticed in the latest trailer the lens flares are at 3-5% less intensity. Discuss.

In the board room, Admiral Marcus does not have a wrinkled uniform. Pike's uniform was wrinkled in the first movie. Does this mean Marcus is not canon? Discuss.

It's a continuity error proving Abrams and his cohorts don't even respect their own canon. They're that eager to violate canon they don't care which canon it is.

How does one make a more exciting thread topic anyway? Lens flares,
lady-skin and 'splosions in nuTrek all seem to make people happy, but
how would you use those things in a thread to make it more exciting?
