Inventor of World Wide Web wants to reinvent it

I think it's a good idea that has unfortunately arrived a little too late for it to work effectively. Governments, banks, and major corporations have already embedded their hooks deep into the very fiber of the internet. There's little chance they would willingly cede any kind of power and influence for the greater sharing of knowledge.

I actually think there's a shot that things could change significantly in just a short period of time. I don't know that the plan proposed in the article will actually work, but I do think that the internet could see major changes in the next few years. It's hard to envision something that doesn't exist yet, but I could imagine that that's how people felt back when the internet first started. Or, I should say just before it started. I'm sure it would have been difficult for the average person to imagine what was to come in the next 20-30 years. I mean, who knew something like Snapchat, where you can instantly send photos that appear for only a few seconds, would be popular back when we were still predominantly using film cameras? Sometimes I feel really amazed when I think about how fast technology changes, and how much it changes the way we do business and our daily lives, and I think that there is still room for more amazement in our future. I guess the people in the article are trying to put themselves out there as the leaders of that change, which may or may not be successful for them.
