Introduction

Sorak

Lieutenant
Red Shirt
Hello everyone, I'm Sorak, in real life Andre from Italy. I thought it would have been polite to introduce myself and, finding no better place to do it, I chose my favourite series section :)

I've been watching Star Trek for 16 of the 22 years spent on Earth, and I have to say my life would never have been the same without the show. It provided my with a beautiful universe in which I could exercise my fantasy at will, and framed my mind on tolerance and openness. The Vulcan logic comes in handy when it comes to facing a problem ("What would Spock/Tuvok do?"). But also, watching the episodes in their original version made me love the English language which drove me on doing a lot of things, from moving for 6 months to London to the decision of pursuing studies abroad in an English-speaking environment. It simply has changed my life.

I discovered Star Trek when I was 6. It has been ever since a wonderful, faithful companion, and I know it always will be. I'm happy I have found a place where I can share my passion with others, and I look forward to having a heck of a good time here! :)

Welcome

Don't just focus on what Spock and Tuvok would do. The logical course isn't always the right course. Notice how the old Spock told NuSpock to do what's right. :vulcan::bolian:

Welcome! What a nice introduction. Glad Star Trek had such a positive influence on your life.

Nice to meet you. Don't let us scare you. We're a strange bunch, but pretty nice over-all. ;) Be sure to be real active.

Thanks you all for your welcome, again, I'm sure I will have a great time here! :)

Finn, Vulcan logic can be fallible, especially when a more dinamic, emotional response is called for :bolian: but there's an answer to your example: Star Trek XI never existed, for me. I cannot accept it, nor Nemesis, as canon. I think this pretty radical opinion originates from the post-traumatic stress induced by Data's death. I refused to know anything about the movie before watching it and well ... that "farewell" he said followed by that explosion has been an uppercut to the stomach. It was like losing a childhood friend.

Since then, if someone asks me where is Data, I answer "aboard Enterprise-E, of course, where else?!". Cannot help it. All that, never happened.
