Intrepid vignette, Confessions by Firelight

USS Intrepid

Commodore

A little change of pace here. A short character piece with absolutely no visual effects (unless you count the title flash). If you're looking for ship to ship battles and running phaser fights, you won't find it here. :)

In the wake of the recent Surai attack (in Transitions and Lamentations) Merik confronts Finney over the Colonial Administration's decision to defer to Starfleet in military matters.

Nice work in using the vignette format to build your backstory. It might be difficult to flesh out the thought processes of the two major characters during a full-length episode without slowing things to a crawl. Two smart people making difficult, but necessary decisions and being willing to swallow some pride in the process. I like it!

That was sweet. I liked it. And I liked the sound of the campfire continuing to play over the end credits.

Have I mentioned how much I envy your locations? I might have mentioned that. ;)

Thanks Dennis, you're always too kind. :)

You should come visit one of these days, and see some of those locations for yourself.

One of the things I've always particularly liked about Intrepid is that the people seem to actually be talking to one another rather than (as Marina Sirtis once described TNG) "hitting their marks and declaiming."

Saw the vignette last night, excellent as expected. Nice two character piece which had a nice intimate setting. Thanks Nick.

Finally caught the vignette. Well done. that is the nice thing about vignettes - you can get a lot of character development in a very small amount of time. It doesn't even have to relate directly to the overall story, it can just flesh out characters a bit more.

On a side note, are you filming in and around Dundee, Scotland or are you filiming in another location?

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it, and I do appreciate you taking the time to post. :)

Yes, we do indeed shoot in and around Dundee and Arbroath. I don't think we've ever travelled more than about an hour's drive from Dundee (unless you count the HF team ups).

Do you know the Dundee area?

My pleasure.

I am not familiar with Dundee. At least not as much as I would like to. That would mean I get to visit Scotland, which I would love to do.

I was having a hard time picking out some of the accents. Not having a problem understanding them so much, but figuring out their origin. I can't remember who, but one or two sounded close to a Welsh accent. I hope that isn't an insult. :)

Keep up the good work.

Thank you!

No, we've no Welsh. At least as far as I'm aware. :) There's a mix of different local accents and also folks from England, Spain and Germany.

Just watched Confessions by Firelight. Great scene and great dialogue with the governor and Captain Merik. :bolian:
