Intrepid Update

USS Intrepid

As the saying goes, "reports of our demise are premature."

I've had a few people ask recently if we were resuming production, so I figured it was a good time for a brief update. Production may be slow but we've never stopped. In fact, we are hoping to release two fifteen minute films this year. One of these, the long gestating Dissonant Minds, has had a pretty rocky production. We shot the exteriors for this back in 2012, but as previously mentioned, there were numerous problems with this one. We've spent the last few years trying to salvage a coherent story, and while it's never going to be our best work, I'm happy to report that we really are getting close to having it finished. We're still waiting on a handful of effects shots, including one we still need an FX artist for, but we're confident we'll get it done before the year is out.

Our next film, A Treasure for the Ages is quickly moving through post production. Again, we are waiting on some effects for but it's coming together nicely and should be finished before the year is out. Part of this film was shot aboard the historic RRS Discovery, the ship Robert Falcon Scott sailed to the Antarctic in 1901, which was quite a thrill, and we look forward to sharing that story with you.

Destruct Sequence, a third fifteen minute film written and directed by Steve Hammond, is also in post production. This was shot back in 2017, but is entirely greenscreen and is going to take some time to complete.

An additional short untitled film is also awaiting post-production work. No eta on that one, but it's quite different in tone from our usual films.

Our next film, Echoes, is in pre-production and will hopefully begin shooting this Autumn. Echoes should comprise two parts of fifteen minutes in length, so will be our longest film in some time.

As ever, real life continues to get in the way of making these films, but we continue to work as time permits.

In that vein, here's a little look at some of the stuff we have coming. For those who care about such things, worry not, most of this is work in progress, cut together to give you all a peek at what we're working on.

Your love for making films just shines through. Looking forward to the finished product whenever your time permits. :)

The long-anticipated Intrepid/Discovery crossover episode ;) Glad to see that Intrepid is still going. I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

Thanks. Hopefully folks will enjoy what we have coming up. We've certainly had fun (and also suffered) making them. :)
As Monty Python once said, "I suffered for my music and now it's your turn!" But seriously folks, it's great to hear that you're still working. Intrepid is a great example of what fan films can be and how talented amateurs willing to take good advice and learn hard lessons can up their game. For those of you not familiar with Intrepid, they've always done good work, but they've worked diligently to improve and it shows! Keep going mates!

Not quite Python...

I've suffered for my music, and now it's your turn.

I do have a soft spot for Rutland Weekend Television, and The Rutles who sprang from it.

And we’re getting there. FYI, sound is not final, this is really just something I threw together for fun. :)

Always good to see The Intrepid in action.

The Intrepid team’s been debating the pros and cons of crowdfunding for quite some time. I remind somewhat twitchy about such things, but decided it was worth a shot. Today we finally took the plunge and launched our first crowdfunder.

Obviously, there’s no obligation to donate, but if anyone is at all interested please visit our Facebook page and take a peek at our campaign.

Thanks. :)

I am absolutely blown away by the response to our crowdfunder. In less than 24 hours we’re almost a third of the way to our target.

I wish I had something insightful or clever to say but all I can do is express how incredibly grateful I am for the trust and support. Wow. Just wow.

We are shooting this weekend so I’ll have some actual news on the film then. :)
