Into Darkness snubbed for Hugo nomination

One would presume that a movie must be good in order for it to be nominated for such an award.

One would be completely wrong in one's presumption.

Studios don't care about Hugos; they care about Golden Globes and Oscars. Publishers care about Hugos, for the same reason that studios care about Academy Awards: they're useful in promotion.

Besides should we really be concerned that Star Trek Into Darkness didn't get a nomination for a Hugo when Fuck Me, Ray Bradbury did get a Hugo nomination?

Fuck Me, Ray Bradbury arguably packs more entertainment into three minutes than STID managed in two hours*, so I'd say justice was done. :shifty:

* I kid, of course.

They're about even.
