In this episode, Brandon interviews Geoffrey Thorne, author of STAR TREK: TITAN – SWORD OF DAMOCLES and discusses the ways that new writers can approach science-fiction and the challenges of developing new writers of color in the publishing world.

He discusses his upbringing, what led to his interest in the sci-fi genre, and how he managed to get one of the most sought-after contracts in the publishing business: a Star Trek novel.

Geoffrey explains in great detail how he broke into the business and the process of establishing himself as a writer. He talks about dealing with rejection, the re-writing process, the headaches of dealing with editors, and what people of color can do in the business to get people to recognize their talents.

This is one of the longest, and best, Writing for Rookies episodes ever.

I misused the word "undersell." I forgot MICHAEL Martin's first name wasn't also Andy.

However, in my defense, I'm a well known moron.

Apologies to grade school grammar teacher and, of course, to Mr. Martin who I'm sure is as lovely as his partner.

That was a great interview, very interesting. I'm a little behind but I'm looking forward to checking out Damocles later this year.

Thanks, Geoffrey was one of the better people I interviewed this year. Please let folks know about the podcast.

It would be greatly appreciated. :techman:

You wouldn't say that if you knew how cool Modan is.
