Internet Security

It's four hours because I'm still on dial-up internet. I'm a dinosaur, I know! :p And the weird thing is the actual download only took a couple minutes and was a file. But when you click install it then takes four hours to "download installation files".

Oh, yes, the virus database and such, now I understand. Those aren't small; they have to include the characteristics of every virus out there, and they'll only get larger in number. But if you're on a dial-up, you might want to check with some free antivirus manufacturers; some have a request form for an installation CD.

Interestingly the second time around is going much faster. I think this time it will only be two hours! :p

So I've installed AVG. It keeps saying "Resident Shield Not Active", but when I click on it it says it's running. Also Windows keeps telling me my computer is unprotected.

Have you tried updating it and/or rebooting the system? I've had the problem a few times, but I don't think it's anything major. It's always gone away for me, usually with a reboot.

Well I turned on my comp this morning and the Resident Shield is working fine and Windows no longer keeps screaming it's not secure. Problem solved! And in the best way possible... by doing nothing!
