Interesting startrek.com poll results

I was just over at the startrek.com site looking at the poll results on the favorite facets of TOS. I think these answers would apply for all of the Trek series, but especially VOY.

What do you like best about TOS?

Crew 55%
Stories 25%
Message 10%
Ships 4%
Aliens 4%

The people, the plot, and the message makes up 85% of the fans' preferences!

I think these results should be given to every writer who is hired to write for Trek, whether they are writing for the screen or the novels. Fans care about the crews and the stories. Forget about the ships, the aliens, and (dare I say it) the special effects.

EDIT: Not that characters and story aren't the most important things. But I love special effects with the power of 10,000 suns.

I'm with the 85%. Mostly, the stories are the most important part. Bad acting is the only thing that makes well written stories or good ideas not feel so good. Even if the characters are meh, if the story is well done, then I enjoy it. This might be why I love season 4-7 of Voy and 2-4 of ENT so much. I really loved the stories, which made me come to love the characters though I see plenty didn't like the characters in either.
