Insurances - Why so thick-headed?

Money would also clearly be saved by providers by only having one place to deal with...only one system of processing claims, only one office to communicate with, etc.

Single payer would save a great deal of money. Arguing against that is simply nonsense.

And just think, with said single payer system. THEY and THEY only get to decide what will and won't get paid. And you've got no other choice to go with.. Other your own pocket of course.

Which is worse than the current situation... how?

Because i can shop around and pick what i want covered vs. what i'm willing to pay..

And just think...with a government-run single payer system, THEY and THEY only will be able to actually use premiums to TREAT people instead of pay their CEOs and stockholders. What a concept.

As far as "choice" goes now...as RM pointed out, how do you know now that your insurance company will pay for a treatment? If they don't, what is your recourse?

If anything, history has shown that government-run programs tend to lean towards accepting people into programs where private companies tend to lean towards denying claims.

Wow, maybe everything should be a single pay system. Just think Gov. run auto insurance Gov. run home owners insurance Gov. only run schools. Etc, etc, etc.

I like having my choice.

Also, as far as Gov run paying systems go. Sure, they may accept you. But that doesn't mean they'll pay. Or should I say if YOU'RE the one providing the health care good luck on getting paid on time or at all.. My Dad is a Doc and my mom runs his practice. A major part of their income comes from Medicaid. It's a never ending battle getting paid.. And thats on stuff thats been
pre-approved.

Then maybe you need a two-tiered system like we have here in Austrralia. We are covered for basic health care which is quite broad I.e. all treatment in a public hospital, discounted pharamacueticals, the governments covers a majority of the cost for a visit to a GP (all the cost if the doctor bulk bills) etc but people can take out private insurance if they want to go to a private hospital (the government still pays some of the cost) and gap insurance and insurance for some things the government doesn't cover such a non-therapeutic cosmetic surgery.

I believe that the doctors are paid quickly by the government because the system is streamed-lined.sometimes a doctor is investigate because it is believed he is putting in too many claims etc

I'm almost convinced that many of the people against single-payer simply have no idea how much wasted time and money is expended by doctor offices to simply bill insurance claims.

Streamlining the system is the clear answer.
