Instead of Christine... (Dexter)

BEWARE OF SPOILERS!

I know I'm a Rita nut to those who've read my threads on her but please just give this some thought:

What if it had been revealed during Season 4 that Rita was the daughter of the Trinity killer instead of Christine and the reason why she was keeping the existence of her first ex-husband a secret was because she suspected the Trinity killer was responsible for his death since he was found beaten to a pulp months after they divorced like the third victim of his ritual cycle? How would such a revelation affect the storyline of Season 4?

I think the show would have officially "jumped the shark" if that was the case. It's a bit too contrived for my taste. As if it was just there to be a major twist, just for shock value. But what do I know.

I agree. That would have been beyond contrived and not worthy of the show at all.

I agree. It would have been preposterous and would have served no good purpose in the story. The way they did it was fine.
