Ok, so my long suffering girlfriend has repented and agreed to watch a couple of episodes of TNG in exchange for me watching some film called 500 Days Of Summer, or something, but I can't work out which episodes would be the best to hook her in and get her interested in the series as a whole.

Personally I was thinking Best Of Both Worlds, both parts, as they are my favourite episodes. I have the entire series, plus all the Next Generation movies at my disposal, but I'm curious to know what you'd go for if you were in my shoes.

Any advice on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't start off with "Best of Both Worlds"...

Pick some episodes based on her tastes. For example, if she likes old world stuff, 19th century, give her a sampling of "Time's Arrow". If she likes Sherlock Holmes, try "Ship in a Bottle". :)

I've shown a few female friends "The Offspring" to get them started, and it seems to work! Not sure what another one would be... "Lessons"? Chicks dig the romance. Maybe an "Inner Light" and "Lessons" 2-parter.

And if you DO show "Best of Both Worlds", include "Family" in there!

I've not seen it but I've heard 500 days of summer isn't that bad of a movie.

I don't know what her tastes are but I would show an episode that showcases Patrick Stewart, so maybe Inner Light/Lessons and maybe then Darmok for the trekkian aspect.

Thanks for the tips guys, I'll take it on board and let you know :)

Although Darmok is probably one of my least favourite episodes, along with Inner Light.

Both of those are excellent starters...The Chase is another one. But it depends on what she likes...generally women tend to like something that resonates with them emotionally. Some women prefer action movies though.

BTW I have initiated/shared ST with quite a few women....relatives, gfs, wife, stepdaughter, etc.

Is it bad that I'm more interested in watching "500 Days of Summer?"

Well you've seen the show already:techman:

Edit: I just read the summary on IMDB, I'll stick with STNG. Though really, I would watch it with my wife.

I affectionately call it '500 Million Days of Summer', because it never ends!

Some good suggestions in here. The Offspring isn't one I would have thought of but I can see how it would be a great episode to start off with. It was directed by Jonathan Frakes too!

I've seen both, actually, and I want to watch the movie again. It was great.

I really liked it, too. Difficult to watch at times, but a good flick.

I did actually watch "500.." with my wife today:lol:...we both had a similar reaction...it was ok, but the guy was a dope and the girl was wishy washy...I couldn't date someone like that for more than a week...till I figured her out.
