Insane lady looking for her dog

:wtf:

So, I just watched this segment of an episode of "COPS". Police are called out to a house where lady has stolen the family's dog.

She says it's HER dog. They say they bought it legally years ago, have papers, a chip in the dog, and photos of when it was a kid.

This crazy lady goes on a mild babbling spree that it's hers, looks just like hers, they stole it, and she's tearing up saying she's been looking for years, spent a lot of money (emphasized that) and the dog going missing years ago even broke up her marriage to her husband.

When she tracked this dog -- which she says was hers -- to the shouse, once the door was opened -- they say -- she exclaimed it was her dog, grabbed it, and wouldn't give it back.

Police wait for somebody to show up with a device to read the chip. A lady scans the chip. "It's not a match".

This crazy dog lady looks befuddled and stumbles out, "Could they switch chips?"

:wtf:

At a certain pont, a dog is just a dog. She let her marriage fail, and she's blaming a missing dog for it. I think she's got more problems than a missing dog... :vulcan:

Yeah, but if I put that in the subject line, you'll be seeing stars. :p

As the cop iterated -- 'cause I didn't catch which state they were in -- the people of the house could have shot her dead.

I saw it. Classy dame.

"It's my dog. My husband left me because of this dog!
Animal Control: "It's not your dog."

That sounds kind of sad, actually. Clearly the woman is delusional. I hope they got her some help.

I saw this segment in the background while making dinner and my wife gave me the play by play.

She's a wacko. Then again, people who end up on COPS often aren't the brightest, most upstanding members of society.

Another good reason to get your dog chipped, in the event someone ever steals it or claims it.

Yeah, the first thing I thought when I saw that was: "I don't think your husband left you because of the dog, but because of you obsessing over the fucking dog instead of trying to get over it and buying a new dog."

I didn't see this, but based on the description, let me play devil's advocate.

The fact that they could even test for a match, and that the tested dog had a chip, strongly suggests that the woman was at least telling the truth about having a dog and that her dog did have a chip. Otherwise what would there be to match?

It's perfectly conceivable that this dog looked exactly like her missing dog, or at least so close that after a long time she wouldn't have been able to tell the difference.

Obviously her obsession over the pet is a bit nutty. But I have seen relationships fail over things as stupid as a disagreement over whose fault it is that a dog got lost. Maybe in her mind that triggering incident for a series of arguments was "why" her husband left her.

I'm not saying she's not crazy, just that based on what we know, she might not be as batshit insane as it sounds.
