Info on New Voyages/Phase II

Even if you got people with you on this crusade, and if James Cawley still wanted to do P2/NV, people interested in fan films are such a small niche of the fandom, you'd never have enough bodies to make CBS take notice.

What if they hired Alex Peters as their PR man? :wtf: Maybe he could pitch in some of the money that he...uh....acquired.

It is a shame he is not driven to complete all of the episodes? I wonder if that would have impacted the deal he made with CBS?

James has his reasons and he put his energies into saving the most important thing - the sets.

The most accurate (well, except for the LCD screens and other modern controls - effects - advancements to make it more "real") reproduction of any Hollywood set past or present anywhere in the world.

But I say if he doesn't/can't complete the outstanding films, let trusted people take it over. A lot of hard work, blood sweat and tears and volunteers helped him and deserve THEIR involvement and work
to be seen. Am I right?

I really feel like the word "deserve" is thrown around way too much these days. It smacks of a sense of entitlement that may or may not be warranted. It certainly would be nice if that were to happen. I hope it does someday, but the fact is that everyone involved knew (or should have known) the risks involved with those efforts. There were no guarantees that CBS/P wouldn't suddenly throw up the "stop" sign and there were no guarantees that the skills needed to make an episode out of the raw materials would always be available or that the available fund would be available to finish the project.

Glad to see you're still around Greg Schnitzer...I'm still hoping to see Torment of Destiny and Bread and Savagery completed some day, if only as tributes for actor Richard Hatch and director Mark Burchett...
Can you inform us on the current whereabouts/projects of Pony Horton and Tobias Richter, and do they have any Trek-related plans in their future? I'm sure Tobias is not hurting for work, but Pony on his own produced some very entertaining vignettes (love Cooking with gas)

Tobias will be on a video conference at Trrkonderoga.

....So, to make good on this Kickstarter campaign, we've been working on completing "Torment of Destiny." Much time, energy, money, and resources are being sunk into our new "Star Trek: The Original Set Tour" project. But we continue to get work done on "Torment of Destiny;" I'm optimistic that we'll finally get it out the door eventually....

So, Now that James is starting the ST Film Academy, (Fantastic idea, BTW) how will this impact the completion of "Torment of Destiny"? Any update on this?

It won't in that it appears ST:NV is done. Now that the folks have the two ACTUAL licences, I doubt they'll 'stir the pot' with CBS and do what effectively are further fan film episodes that VIOLATE the current Star Trek Fan Film Guidelines.

Exactly this. The license prevents Cawley from engaging anything that could potentially infringe upon the rules. Thus, the remaining New Voyages episodes are likely to stay in the vault indefinitely.

Then what WILL it take? What needs to be done in order for at least "Torment of Destiny" to be finished?

Nothing can be done. Read my last post in this thread - James will comply by the rules set forth for CBS licensees.

Not having spoken publicly of the unfolded drama of the last two years. But keeping with and in light of what was hoped for and attempted .. don't you feel the above post is a little cynical.
