Info on New Voyages/Phase II

Yet another reminder:

To clarify some details on our 2015 Star Trek New Voyages Kickstarter, we specified to what the donated money was to be applied:

"FIRST GOAL: $20,000

"$20,000 covers the basic costs (very basic) of our July 2015 Shoot, such as electricity, equipment rental and other filming expenses. So, making our base goal allows us to cover our basic expenses, and leaves covering the rest of the shoot expenses up to our production team.

"$50,000 STRETCH GOAL

"With your help in reaching this goal, the rest of our expenses for our July 2015 "Torment of Destiny" shoot will be met, and this will also allow us the funding necessary to complete more of our standing sets including realize a fully completed Medical office/Lab and Exam Room! So Please help the good Doctor McCoy get his digs!"

Since we (just barely) hit the $50,000 Stretch Goal ($50,001!) we seem to be obliged to provide the following things:
  • Basic production costs for our June 2015 shoot ("Torment of Destiny") DONE
  • Post-production costs (editing, color timing, music, sound effects, etc.) necessary to get "Torment of Destiny" released IN PROCESS
  • Completion of more of our standing sets--including McCoy's medical office/laboratory/examination room Sick Bay suite. DONE
So, to make good on this Kickstarter campaign, we've been working on completing "Torment of Destiny." Much time, energy, money, and resources are being sunk into our new "Star Trek: The Original Set Tour" project. But we continue to get work done on "Torment of Destiny;" I'm optimistic that we'll finally get it out the door eventually.

I don't know what James' plans are for "Origins: The Protracted Man," and for "Bread and Savagery." (I knew at one time, but it's all a new ball game since CBS' Fan Film Guidelines were released. I don't know what James' thinking is now; much post-production work remains on these two episodes.)

I guess you can claim that a private museum tour of 'sets' is sets, but to me, I was donating toward better sets for more films, not for an authorized tour. There was nothing I understood at the time that left me believing that I was donating for a set tour.

However, my attitude about Kickstarters, whatever, is that I can only hope it is used as I wish. Most of the time, it's not. I'm not going to sue. If New Voyages finishes another film or two, that would be great. If not, that's life.

If I donate to an update and renovation project for a hospital, it's not money to turn the hospital into condos, either. If I donate to a University, it's not for that University to become a private, for-profit university. So, I'll keep donating to the Arkansas (formerly Ok.) sets. They are used for films. I'm not well enough to visit any of these places anyway.

This is not being done by anyone at New Voyages. New Voyages does not exist anymore. This has been communicated to Amazon.

For what it's worth, there was a message that was being displays at that web page:

"This title is not currently available for purchase."

Now that page delivers up the following message:

Thank you for responding James. Count me among those looking forward to "Torment of Destiny". I would also love to see a completed "Bread and Savagery", but I also feel that I am way ahead of the game considering the entertainment I've gotten from your efforts (some of which came at a very rough time for me) and feel that I am owed nothing. Thank you, James and all of your crew. I hope you have a great holiday season and a blessed 2017.

Completely agreed with Mike. I also thank you and every member of your team for all of the care, sweat and love found in each of your installments...

Dear Santa
All I want for Christmas is for James to complete three remaining episodes.
Thank you James for everything you have done to keep Star Trek alive the last 11 years. These are beautiful episodes and done with love. Your team of cast and crew have done a tremendous job with what they had.
Thank you again.

maybe Santa will deliver one or two of those unfinished episodes by next Christmas?

I really enjoy Phase 2 but I think there must be doubts that there will be anymore the way the case is going with Paramount. I hope my fears are unfounded

PS...... To the Dear Santa above...

Please let us see Richard Hatch's one and only role in Star Trek Phase 2.
Let him leave us with a Great Performance. His flight path was just getting it's second leg, his skills and ability will be missed, and hopefully will inspire a new generation.
"Colonial Vipers ready for launch Capt. Apollo"
RIP :weep::weep::wah: :angel:

I would want them to complete all of the filmed episodes that have not been released.
I also wish for that to happen. In fact, I WILL NOT watch the new show, Star Trek: Discovery, unless CBS allows New Voyages/Phase II to be finished properly! Who else is with me?

Even if you got people with you on this crusade, and if James Cawley still wanted to do P2/NV, people interested in fan films are such a small niche of the fandom, you'd never have enough bodies to make CBS take notice.
