inFAMOUS. Anybody playing?

Played the demo, rather liked it but I'll have to wait a couple of months to pick up any new games. I've still got something of a monstrous backlog to get through.

I will certainly pick it up eventually. I need to see what the reaction of the average gamer is first.

I seemed to die a lot in the demo but the checkpoints were very forgiving, unlike a certain other infamous sandbox game.

I stayed away from anything to do with this game (bar the premise and a few screenshots), as it was in serious danger of being over-hyped on some of the gaming websites I visit, and I wanted to let the demo impress me.

It most certainly did that.

One of the best demos I've played in a while. Loved the controls, loved the abilities, loved... well pretty much everything about it. I'll be picking this up on Friday, and I can't wait.

Got it ... and I *love* it!

God, the gameplay is just so freakin' slick. The platforming (and gorgeous associated animations) - the combat (you can SERIOUSLY string up some badass combos) ... everything is just effortless. It makes you feel like the ultimate badass. To complement the feeling of badassery, my first playthrough is as an evil character

The actual graphics are weirdly horrible-and-yet-awesome at the same time. I don't know how to describe it ... the game isn't antialiased and it supports only 720p, so it looks "jaggy" as hell, almost like it's a game from the early 2000s (no joke!) ... but it's weirdly charming and in-character for the game, almost as if it's a gritty comic book. And other aspects are handled brilliantly, visuals-wise, including the electricity and the physics of the world - you can blow apart and blast almost anything. And Cole can literally climb almost ANYTHING in the game, it works brilliantly. And the character model of Cole himself is fantastic (particularly with respect to animations). So the game has a really anachronistic and yet cutting edge feel to it all a the same time. I know that doesn't make sense - you have to see the game for yourself I guess.

Looks interesting, one of the few PS3 exclusives I want to play.

Though I am disappointed to hear about the lack of antialiasing. Every 360 and PS3 game should have at least 2x AA. There is no excuse for the game not having it.

I played the demo and it's just not my cup of tea. Way too much combat, not enough of everything else. Though if it does get a good review from my favourite gaming magazine, I might pick it up in a couple of months when I can get it for 20€.

Ebay gave me a 15% off coupon, so I just bought it through Live Cashback for another 8% off (before the 15% deduction) from Buy.com's Ebay store, so it cost me about $41 brand new.

As Twilight says, it adds to the look...
It's almost like a Heavy Metal comic based game...
Underground/alternative if yoiu get what i'm saying...

Oh, and:

I was really excited about this game as it looked like Crackdown with electricity powers... but I didn't know it was PS3 exclusive! Will it ever come out on 360?

No. It's not a timed exclusive, it's PS3 only, like Killzone or Uncharted.

I saw a commercial to this at work yesterday and think it looks freakin sweet. I've got some money I had saved up for Ghostbusters: The Video Game and I just might buy this game instead

The final line of Morgan Webb's X-Play review of inFamous: "If you own a PS3 and don't play this game, you're dumb."

My copy arrived today. I've played it for an hour or two this evening. I'm liking it quite a bit. It reminds me a bit of Crackdown, well if Crackdown had much of a story at all. Climbing across buildings and dropping down on enemies is still a lot of fun, even if you're not chasing orbs. :p

The powers are pretty cool, so far. There's enough early on to feel fairly badass while still not being ridiculously powerful. The open world works pretty well for approaching enemies.

I'm not sure about the karma balance, so far. The choices given seem fairly simplistic, so far. Though, it's nice that they give you the option to be a hero or a villian. Some of the karma you got from missions seemed a bit off, though. Like driving off the enemies from the clinic gave no karma, while finding some beacons to decrypt a message pushed me slightly towards the evil side. I would have thought the latter neutral, and the former good, if any karma was given. Though, you do free up the clinic for you own use, so there's a selfish motive there, too.

Just got back from EB games 3-4 posts ago Ill give it a whirl before I give a full review. But word is on the street says this game is going to be good.

Well, i like it...
Got the special edition, same price as the regukair one at the shop...
Cardboard packaging and a code for a free download for a special power...

I've been playing it for a couple days and it's lots of fun. I have some minor quibbles, but I'm not sure if those are the game or my fault for not being very good at the game. I die A LOT. Really it's just that every so often I come up to my personal gaming nemesis, the Protection Mission. Though "inFamous" isn't much of an offender, I still can't stand this kind of mission - at least here if the engineer gets shot down, I can heal him up and move on. Also, I agree with Garrett on the Karma - a couple of times, I've been told that my actions have made me slightly more evil, but I couldn't understand why. I figure I must've nailed a bystander or two by accident somehow, but, hell if I saw it.

The powers are sweet as hell. I love being able to chain together grinding along power lines and train tracks, and some of the attacks are really friggin' cool.

The same was said about Little Big Planet, a game I'm not terribly fond of given my general dislike of platformers and the game's floaty controls.

That said, I'm glad there was a demo for this. It saved me from spending $60 on another game I probably wouldn't have liked. I've been playing Saints Row 2 so maybe that's influenced my opinion of the game's controls, which felt VERY floaty to me. Graphically it was fine though...not sure what the complaints are on that front.
