Inevitable Death of the Universe Disturbs Me Greatly

True, but every time you suddenly fall into a hole there's a chance that you might discover it's really a tunnel to the next level. Kinda like the escape route from the Sea of Green in Yellow Submarine (which also proves that a hole in one's pocket may come handy).
Or as Mervyn Bunter's mom stated: Problems are like cows. If you stare them in the eyes long enough, they generally go away.

That's also why I don't believe the universe's death to be inevitable. It'd be much too simple a solution. Life and its problems are usually far more complicated (and stubborn!)

Thanks, you two, it's just really difficult to find a bright side when every side seems to be pitch black. :/

Most welcome...after all, it's all black where I live too. We can at least choose how to react to it. Personally, I go with satiric humor and trolling...the universe hates that, especially when I make comments about its mother.

trolling is no good idea when Bonzie is around. She is pretty good at trolling trolls and tends to drive them nuts.
How do you mean it's black where you live? Geological (volcanic island), skin-colour-wise (central Africa), astronomical (polar region) or political (Bavaria)??

The pitch-black in my day-to-day is an unfortunate occupational hazard due to the abundance of dim-bulbs in leadership roles.

Ah. That explains why he is so active in the caption threads.

Finding absurdity in the routine is essential and as Garak would say, it's a skill like any other and if you want to maintain a level of excellence you have to practice.

ah, I see. Same here - I'm in public service, sortof, and both the public and the politicians whom they elect (and who consequently are my bosses) might be likened to an old 15W bulb (possibly familiar to you from physics lessons), brightness-wise.

Elections I can live with...it's the appointees. I deal with the Private Sector as well as Public....they're no brighter there. The combined IQ of all the middle managers I have to deal with couldn't be relied upon to warm up an Easy Bake Oven that was already on fire.

...actually, speaking of physics I note that nobody has worked out the calorific content of an Executive. Definitely an untapped, and totally renewable energy source. All-natural, clean burning executives. I might have solved the energy crisis!

no way. Have you ever seen an executive who showed the slightest sign of energy? Makes sense, though, as they have no weight when it comes to decisions. Mathematical proof:
E= mc²
if m = 0 we get
E = 0 c² in other words
E = 0
(always assuming Einstein got his formula right)

;)

Ah no weight...but thier ego has considerable mass. However, deriving your statement that thier decisions carry no weight makes sense, and if we consider that they are actually moving us backwards (easily verifiable empirically) so we need to add a vector component to ol Al's formula:

E = M(ego) C^2 * (-1)

...therefore all executive efforts create negative energy. Rats. That explains why they suck all the life out of a room at least.

Excellent! And the larger M(ego), the more negative energy. Experience proves your formula, so I think we may boldly call it a fact.
And on the sideline we just confirmed that one indeed learns not for school but for life :D
