Indiana Jones Quadrilogy to get the 3-D treatment + re-released!!!

I heard somewhere today that this is all rumor still; Lucasfilm is focusing solely on Star Wars.

Either way, I'd much rather if they're going to fuck around with Indy that they get the damn trilogy on Blu-Ray before doing any kind of mucking around with 3D.

Yes, the Indy OT on Blu-ray would be awesome - I'm talking a full on 4k loving restoration!

Ugh, 3d, to me it's basically someone asking "Hey, want a headache and stomachache for two hours at a time?"

To hell with this silly fad.

Lucas is asking me kindly if I'd like to see all the Indy films in the theatre again, in 3D, and probably pay 40 bucks for the honor. I bought the friggin' DVDs for half that money. So....ehm.... nope.

3D just annoys me because it is a line of film artistry that I don't think should be crossed. We are so enthralled with the visuals in a film that we want to reach out and touch them, as if we are there, part of the shock and awe?

I think that goes directly against what film started out as: plays onscreen. That is how I still define a film- a story told by said group of persons taped for us to see again and again. I think all this mucking things up with effects is ruining the storytelling system.

Its to the point where the story doesn't matter if the effects are good- ie Avatar. The story is a thin rip of every sf cliche out there, but no one cares because it looks good. Remember the days when effects were bad, but if the story was good, no one cared. That is why Doctor Who has lasted as long as it has. That is why Blake's 7 is a classic. That is effing why we have smartphones and readers just like mother hubbing Star Trek!

Someone saw that paperplate flying saucer in Flash Gordon and had dreams and the imagination to go where the story took them. If its all visually there with no substance, where does one go from here?

Back on topic, Crystal Skull just did hohum in theaters and in dvd/br sales and it is going to be rereleased in 3d? Who is supposed to care? How about all the 70th Anniversary films from 1940 get proper video treatment instead?

I'm sorry, when did $798 million dollars become 'ho-hum'? It's apparently the 3rd highest grossing film of 2008, and 30th of all time.

He's probably one of those hung up on the 'fridge' or the aliens. It skews every other actual fact about the movie.

It was ho hum in that hardly anybody liked it and most felt it was inferior to the original. S if you've already shot your sub par wad and made your money from it, why put it out again to send your big 3d release out on a whimper?

When the opening Paramount "mountain" is a prairie dog hill, one has to accept that the film is going to be mostly tongue-in-cheek -- nuclear fridges, aliens, and superfluous jungle cutters included. Whether that's good or bad for the franchise is a matter for debate. I enjoyed it well enough, though.

Problem wasn't the prairie dog hill, it was the CG prairie dog that let me immediately realize that all this "you won't get F-35 under highways in this movie" talk from George Lucas was total horse shit.

Where did all the alien fridge stuff come from, and when did I become a guy? See what this topic is doing to us!

Honestly, I wish they would think of the film before the money. Will there be an Indy 5 with 80 year old Ford tacked on to the end of all this hysteria?

I'm so tired of 3D, really. <sigh>

I think it's kind a default - I think of EVERY poster as male. I think the %'s of males to females would be way up.
