Indiana Jones IV plot holes

Does that negate the effects?
He should have dropped dead from a suddenly-reappearing bullet wound, then.

The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, in its network run, had present-day framing sequences featuring a 92-year-old Indy (since the series began in 1992 and established Indy's birthdate as July 1, 1899) played by 76-year-old George Hall. Which suggests that the effects of drinking from the Grail did Indy some good, and logically should've done the same for Henry Sr.

Although in Crystal Skull the 57-year-old Indy was played by the 64-year-old Harrison Ford, which would seem to go against that. And since Lucas didn't include the "Old Indy" sequences on the Young Indy DVDs, I suppose he considers them non-canonical.

^ But even in TOD Ford was technically too old for the role, given that it's set before Raiders. I remember seeing a 'Making Of' doc in 1984 and. even then, he was joking about that.

^Well, yeah, and even more so in Last Crusade. But that was before he drank from the Grail. Besides, people back then tended to have shorter life expectancies anyway, and Indy led a hardscrabble life that logically would've added to his wear and tear, so it's not unreasonable for the actor to be older than the character. It's just the George Hall Indy who's the odd one out, and he's apparently been decanonized, as I said.

FWIW "Mystery of the Blues" is still framed with scenes featuring an older Indy, played by Harrison Ford (with a beard!). But I can't remember if the episode makes any explicit mention of age.

Well, it's set in 1950, which would make Indy either 50 or 51. It was shot sometime in 1992/93, so Ford would've been the same age. Indeed, the 1950 date was probably chosen to match Ford's age.

One of these days I'm going to watch more of that show than the snippets I saw as a child. That includes the little cameo by Ford (which I watched again on YouTube not that long ago and loved).

Not plot holes, but two nitpicks I have about the opening sequence. One glaring error is the digital LED countdown clock on the rocket sled in 1957.

Another is the Korean War-marked F-86s at the air base. By 1957, F-86s would have been replaced by F-100s at least, and probably F-102s.

You know that this IS supposed to be Area 51? Why is that a mistake... The myth surrounding A51, it's all about secrecy and unknown technology. That's not a mistake but rather an interpretation.

I just liked seeing from Raiders Of The Lost Ark both Karen Allen and the location of the warehouse that the Ark was stored in again.:vulcan:

I've seen Raiders and bits and pieces of the other Indy films on in-flight movies in the early 90s; they never piqued my curiosity beyond that.

I tend to think that the Grail healed all existing ailments in both Indy and his father - thereby ridding them of any cancers, liver ailments, etc.

I think not only did one have to not take the grail from beyond the seal, but one also had to keep drinking from it/pouring it on injuries.

I'm not a big Spielberg fan, but I think he does pretty well with the Indy films...(of course, there are exceptions as we saw with the second and fourth films)...
