Indiana Jones 5 "news"?

Don't know about you lot but the Indy-overcoming-fear-of-snakes theme immediately made me think of Die Hard 4.0, where John McClane, previously afraid of flying, had taken flying lessons and flew himself and his sidekick to one of their destinations.

Nice confounding of the audience's expectations - but had it appeared in KOTCS, I would just have thought 'rip-off!'

^I'm reminded of a similar subversion of expectations in Casino Royale: A bartender asks Daniel Craig's James Bond if he wants his martini shaken or stirred, and Bond replies, "Do I look like I give a damn?"

Indy's fear of snakes I think keeps him grounded in hmanity and it makes something of a flawed character since he's not really afraid of anything else. The Indiana Jones movies over largely over the top, but keeping Indy human helps matters, he's got realy feelings and a real fear, otherwise I think he'd be too perfect.

And then he spends the next two movies ordering all kinds of fanciful cocktails.

Nah...just "salt water" (which he promptly pukes up), a few Vespers, and a beer from what I remember.

He also drinks something hard after the stairwell fight, but I can't recall was it was. It was probably something basic like vodka or bourbon.

Oh yes, you're definitely right. It's just that he gives the recipe for the Vesper again, which left me with the impression that he had spent half the movie talking about cocktails.

A.k.a the best part of the movie. Not that the rest of it wasn't good too, but I loved that moment so much. It and the last line made me want to cheer. :)

If I had survived through both WWI and II, virtually nothing would scare me. Not Ruskies, not aliens, not Mola Ram, not nothing! ;)
