Incredible Deal of Buffy Box Set

Damn. I've never even watched Buffy and that is really tempting. Thanks for the heads up, I gotta think about that one.

Too bad I already have all five seasons on DVD. Where was this offer two years ago? :p

Season five ends with The Gift, which many consider to be the perfect ending for the show. Season six's darker, more angsty storylines didn't go down well with everyone. Personally, I think that the show ended at about the right time.

I don't.

AFAIK, it was never meant as a real ending, only as a possible ending if the show doesn't come back.

They went down very well with me.

See my thoughts on these things in 2 recent threads:

I'm not upset we got Season 6 and 7 and don't feel like they destroyed the Buffy legacy or anything, but I do feel like "The Gift" was a stronger episode that really sort of summed up the entire series to that point. I would not have been upset if the show ended there, and I definitely think "The Gift" was a much stronger, more moving finale than Chosen which fell a bit short in my book.

I dunno. I wonder if they had worked out the move to the CW (or UPN, I can't remember which way it went) when he wrote the finale so I wonder if the finale was written to serve as the finale if it needed to be? Certainly seemed that way to me, but I wasn't really in touch with the show when the move happened.

I've read that the show was only supposed to run five years and end with "The Gift", that this was always the original plan which was changed at the last minute when WB offered to buy another year.

The original plan was as is, except that Glory kills Tara (not just brain-suck her) and this creates Dark Willow, so basically the season five and six finales would have been a single story.

Well according to Wikipedia:
In the 2001–2002 season, the show had moved to the UPN Network after a negotiation dispute with The WB. While it was still one of their highest rated shows on their network, the WB felt that the show had already peaked and was not worth giving a salary increase to the cast and crew. UPN on the other hand, had strong faith in the series and quickly grabbed it along with Roswell. The UPN Network dedicated a 2 hour premiere to the series to help re-launch it.

I've heard this before as well. They kind of went there a little bit with the whole short-lived Dark Willow thing with Glory and the knives but obviously that didn't last. It would have been interesting, I think, to have Dark Willow wipe out Glory in an epic battle and then have Buffy and the gang have to take out Dark Willow. If they had planned on Buffy dying in the original plan then maybe Dark Willow ends up fatally injuring Buffy and this is what brings her around - of course a little too late.

Dunno, could have made for some pretty powerful TV.

While I think they may have had an idea that the series might be picked up for Season 6, I get the sense that they wrote the finale as if it might not. These things sometimes fall apart at the last minute and it appeared to me that if the move didn't happen, Joss'd be content with the Season 5 finale as the end of the Buffy saga. Speaking for myself, I felt a real sense of closure when watching the finale and there really wasn't anything else I felt they needed to address to complete her story.

I dunno. I'd love to ask Joss what he was thinking. :)

Is it just me, or did anybody else see "Incredible Deal of Buffy Sex Bot" on first glance.
