Thankfully my family isn't under the impression that the kitchen is some sort of Geneva Convention, so we're able to pretty much say whatever is on our minds.

^ That's the way it is with my parents and me as well. There's very little that we feel we "can't" say. It probably stems from the fact that 1) we trust each other and 2) my parents were both in the medical field and so they used to get into medical discussions at the table, so we're used to weird talk.
