I have to give JJTrek credit for reviving Trek.

Which is probably why we are now discussing a Trek 2017 series. And even if Trek 2017 should be canceled, JJTrek might allow other Trek endeavors, such as more live action movies, or perhaps animated Trek.

Alex Kurtzman is the exec, it's coming out less than a year after Beyond, there will be plenty of sets, props, and costumes available from the movies which will save money. The only reason really to think that it will be in the Prime universe is if CBS doesn't have the rights to use any JJverse elements. But remember that Orci and Kurtzman have been looking into the possibility of a new series and trying to work out the rights for quite a number of years and so there's been plenty of time to resolve that issue.

But ultimately it doesn't matter. A quality story can be done in any universe, in any century, with any characters.

I'd *like* Prime but this new series should not take place in the Prime timeline. Instead it should follow NuTrek along with the films to make some sort of sense into the JJAbrams universe.

The JJAbrams universe should be given a chance. So far it it not *that* bad and I think with a few other writers putting their spin onto it, we should see a whole new and better system.

The Prime Trek universe is out of date anyway. I mean... PaDD? We have Ipads now ffs. Its high time for some new ideas to be put into the mix, disregard all that continuity (and there's a helluva lot of it) and bring something truly great to our screens.

This trek is designed to bring it up to date for a modern audience we can't still be hanging on to the 90s as if it was our only hope and the only true trek.

I prefer Prime,

But if the new series is called Dr. McCoy: Space Doctor starring Karl Urban I will definitely give it a shot.

Don't care about "timelines". A good show is what I want.

You took the words out of my mouth.

I voted for "Another suggestion" up above because I'n not particularly concerned with whether the new show lines up with any particular timeline or not. You can make good or bad episodes in any timeline. It's the execution that matters, not the timeline.

I just want it to be fresh, compelling, entertaining, and popular enough to stay in production.

Considering if this show takes place in the Prime Universe, they would have to reference things from shows that ended decades ago, I would rather they stick with the Abrams Universe.

Frankly the Prime Universe was starting to feel stale and convoluted after 5 shows and 10 movies anyway.

If we are taking odds of what we are actually likely to see, I'd say: JJ universe: 90%, Prime 5%, something new 5%

I'd prefer the prime universe, I just feel that it is more applicable to a tv show than the JJ-verse

JJ universe is most likely as the producer is Kurtzman.I am fine with that if they just make good TV.
But i would prefer clean reboot similar to BSG. New Trek for the 21th century. Use the core elements from original Trek but not bother by endless canon. There was no Kahn in 1990s so Trek need an update and reinvent itself.

Don't really care what timeline or universe or century it's in, as long as it's good.

After a while, Trek stopped trying to tell good stories for their own sake, but tried to make it as Trek and as 'canon' as possible. Canon was eating itself.

So, like with the Star Wars expanded universe, Prime Trek had to go. For the good of the brand, it had to go back to square one.

I would be fine with a complete reboot

Core elements:

1. Social commentary

2. Optimism
