In the Name of Honor by Dayton Ward question.

Hey, I was just thinking about Ward's In the Name of Honor recently. I'd read it YEARS ago, but recall really liking it.

And then I realized it featured Kirk and Sulu working alongside Koloth. If I remember right, Sulu and Kirk (between Final Frontier and Undiscovered Country) help Koloth liberate some Federation prisoners from a jungle outpost run by Koloth's former second-in-command. Because the Empire is moving closer to the honorable ways of Kahless once again ... or something like that.

So here's the question: Are this book's events referenced in Martin and Mangel's Forged in Fire novel that featured both Sulu and Koloth (as well as Kang and Kor)?

Not that they should have been! I do realize authors do not *have* to consult with one another. And I also realize cross-continuity would not become a huge deal until the "post-VOY season 7/DS9 season 8 and beyond" material. But, it seems, occasionally Trek authors would reference others' works in their books.

Anyway, simply curious...

Also, if anyone has any thoughts, opinions, or reviews of In the Name of Honor? Please feel free to chime in with those as well.

By the way, we have a designated review thread here, if you would like to use that:

I think what you meant to post was this:

:)

This wasn't a review or request for a review. It was a question regarding this book's potential link to another book.

I just know people love to insert their thoughts, opinions, and reviews into anything that involves "thing in subject line in thread." So my last line was just letting folks know "hey, go ahead."

If either of you happen to know the answer to my question, please feel free to let me know. In this thread.

...unless this is a subtle means of getting me to ask the question in that other thread?

Well, part of why I linked you to the designated review thread was because typically, review threads get a lot of activity which might already contain the answer to your question. Unusually, the thread for this book is a short one.

Sorry, it's been so long since I read either novel that I don't remember enough details to answer your question. I only commented because of the self-referential link.

No, no worries. This thread is fine. If I had any concerns with it existing, I would have merged it with the other one. You're good.

I don't know for sure, but there might also be something referring to any connections in one of the Forged in Fire threads, too. I'm not going to link them all here, but, OP, if you search on the keyword "Forged" in this forum only, and in titles only, you will find them.
