In ST12: Ripoff Master And Commander

Something like this would work well actually. I don’t think rip-off is the best way to put to it but defiantly influenced by it. Like the TOS was influenced by westerns as a “wagon-train to the stars” If they are “influenced” by the novels we can even get some espionage intrigue in there as well.

I agree. The relationships between the characters, especially the Big Two (Three?) characters, should always be kept as a central portion of the movies. Just, don't make it drag like Master and Commander. I loved the movie, it's one of my favorites, but they need to balance the pace a bit more for Trek.
I like this idea. 
One interesting thing about Master and Commander was that it was kind of episodic. It was less a story than a portrait of the ship and her crew. I also loved how this military ship was trying to balance the scientific aspirations of its doctor with the overall mission at hand, that was the captain's main priority. I think stuff like that would work wonderfully for a second Star Trek film.
You mean they should do Balance of Terror as the next movie

Master and Commander is still one of the best trek movies done to date, IMO.

Kinda liking this idea. Involve exploring a strange new area, few skirmishes with a new alien race (or several ships, that don't allow themselves to be taken captive to give more info), so you get a mix of the crew exploring, some cat and mouse with either a ship or a species in the area, all good. Good mix of "M&C", "Balance of Terror", and some good ol' exploration and diplomacy. Some mystery about why you're being attacked, why they're defending whatever system or anomaly the crew is checking out, good stuff!
