Kirk: A spirited, confident leader with a firm, unresolving sense of right and wrong.
Spock: A man of rational, (relatively) unbiased justice, with an intellect capable of solving almost any riddle.
McCoy: A man of great moral character with a sense of warmth and compassion, and a great sense of humor.
Scotty: A man with a great passion for his work, with a talent for coming up for creative solutions for technical problems.
Sulu: An adventurous, fun-loving dude, who can also provide a cool head when it matters most.
Chekov: Also a fun-loving dude, with a healthy ego and an enthusiatic personality.
Uhura: Polite, with a good sense of fun, a woman who does her job well --and a good singer to boot!
Chapel: Rational when it counts, yet always in touch with her feelings --and her attraction to Spock is a nice touch.
Rand: A woman often highly misunderstood by the fans, she is nonetheless a compassionate, wonderful person, with a good sense of dignity, loyalty to her captain, and tenderness --and (as "Man Trap" and "Charlie X" indicate), she knows how to have fun!
O'Riley: A man of such wonderful ego, he can swagger down the halls and check out the babes with no embarrasment whatsoever --and, to boot, he's got a wonderfully melodious voice ("IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII'L TAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE YOU HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOME AGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIN, KATHLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN...")!
Mr. Leslie: The one red shirt who cannot die --'nuff said!
