Stemming from a post I n the controversial opinions thread, which wells do you feel Trek has boldly gone to too many times?

Which things could the Trek creatives be told are not to be used for an extended but temporary period in order to let the franchise spread its wings wider?

As a starter for ten:

Khan Singh
Soongs
Augments
Borg

I think with Picard now done, The Borg won't be something we'll see for the foreseeable future. Same thing goes for the Soongs.
Khan Singh is my choice. Space Seed was good, TWOK overrated. Star Trek has had better villains in my opinion.

I would have said Klingons, but I liked what SNW did with them this season. So I'm half and half on that.

1. If time travel is never used again, that would be great. I'll settle for a single series to not use that plot device even once.

2. The Borg... just die already. Please.

It certainly looks like the main Borg are done. And I sincerely hope that's true. But there's still the Jurati Borg, and I just don't care enough. Be done with the Borg, fully. Please.

3.
The Temporal Cold War was referenced in "Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow", and it immediately brought down the episode for me. I despised it on ENT, and I thought we were done with it after the "STORM FRONT" two-parter.

Please, please, PLEASE... never again!!!

Truthfully, if I could pick just three things in the entire franchise, I'd easily call these my three wishes for ST to be done with.

If the mirror universe had been used to show how badly things could have gone in Fed history then fine. But instead they just went with pantomime moustache twirling villainy.
So the mirror universe..gone please.

Khan was only used to his full potential in the production end of his creation & natural continuation: TOS & TOS-movies, respectively. Anything else (whether using Khan, or the Eugenics experiments) was a desperate attempt to suck that great creation's aura and energy into markedly inferior chapters of ST, so its pretty a good bet any current or future ST production will continue the bastardization process.

Time travel has not worked in ST in decades and should never, ever be explored again.

The Borg. The last time this species felt mysterious and threatening was in their debut--TNG's "Q Who". After that, it was one shameless plot device after another / trying to relive one feeling time and time again. Essentially the species equivalent of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe's Skeletor: same ole, same old schemes.

The holodeck can be dangerous / deadly.
Transporter hijinks.
Time Travel.
Da Borg.
Khan.
Spock loses control of his emotions.

I would be just fine seeing the above topics never again visited in Trek.

I’ll give you this: you’re as constant as the Northern Star.

Klingons top my list. Discovery had potential and squandered it.

Borg. They are not scary. They are myopic, one note villains that add little because they are treated as any other villian of the week.

Time travel. Just too many holes for my liking. Just nerf it all.

Planet of the week.

Teen geniuses.

Janeway.

Time travel.

Dangerous holodeck malfunctions.

Miracle working engineers.

Aliens mimicking gods.

I don't believe in saying "No". The more rules you have, the more rule-breakers you'll have. Rules are made to be broken. (And yet I used to be a mod! Figure that one out... )

If I was making a Star Trek show, and someone told me "no" or "it can't be done", that's the first thing I'd go to. So, ironically, no moratoriums.
