In DS9 did Jean Luc Picard meet Benjamin Sisco

Edinburgh

Just for my own interest .

I was positive they did meet in the first episode and if i remember right they didn't get along .

Or am i talking mince. :shifty:

Wow dude, chuck in a copy of Emissary quick smart, cause Sisko meeting Picard is quite a huge plot-point.

And yes, they do.

You're talking mince - Captain Picard met Commander Sisko in Emissary :p

And, no, they didn't get along - Sisko's wife was killed by the Borg at Wolf 359, where the assimilated Picard was their spokesperson.

They never actually met, Picard wanted to see Sisko aboard the ENT and Sisko texted him back with,

"LOL, LMAO, FU MF, GTH"
"PS. Eat Shit and Die"

What an awkward moment that was for Picard.

Sisko: "Captain Picard, it's been a long time."
Picard: "I'm sorry, have we met?"
Sisko: "Yes, you and your Borg pals KILLED MY WIFE."
Picard: "Oh."

It was a very awkward moment, for the viewer too. Because of Sisko's backstory it was probably necessary for the scene, but it doesn't endear the audience to Sisko. Sisko's treatment of Picard, while understandable, is not unlike accusing a woman who's been raped that it's her fault, and for a new series, trying to win for its characters viewers's affections, having its lead go against one of the most popular Trek characters ever seems initially very counter-productive. Because of that, though, it's a fascinating scene, possibly one of the most interesting in Trek ever, and reveals that DS9's commander was a lot more human than the majority of TNG's more perfect specimens.

It was a great moment in the pilot episode. Almost immediately, we saw Sisko as an angry man, with a lot of baggage on his mind, very atypical of the sort of Starfleet officers our generation had become accustomed to, and in a way it set the scene for the series as a whole. That it involved Picard in that scene greatly drove the contrast home (especially since we already know Picard's side of the story, and at that point in the Franchise, we are pretty much sympathetic towards Picard).

Didn't the meeting between Picard & Sisko take place on the Enterprise-D?
My vcr eats tapes so someone else is going to have to check to be sure.
THANKS!

The first meetin' was aboard the Enterprise, in the observation lounge.

The second time they talked, after Sisko's wormhole discovery, was in Sisko's office.

Didn't Picard wander around the Promenade in TNG's "Birthright part 1"?

Yep, along with Dr. Crusher.

Worf & Geordi ate at the Replimat in the same episode.

Will Riker called Quark on subspace in TNG 'Firstborn'.

And Tom Paris & Harry Kim were in Quark's with Morn before Voyager went to the Badlands.

Along with a bunch of other TNG/DS9/VOY recurrin' characters goin' back & forth (Q, Lwaxana, the Duras sisters, Vash, Gowron, Dr Zimmerman, Gul Evek, to name a few).

Interesting. I've always seen it as just the opposite. It made me dislike Picard more.

Why? He didn't kill Jennifer, the Borg did while they essentially highjacked his body and mind-raped him the whole time.

I guess it's the idea that the Enterprise and it's crew were able to rescue their captain and go back to their happy adventures in Space where Sisco lost almost everything and got put in a position where exploration isn't in the job description but handling religious fanatics who are trigger happy is.

"PS. Eat Shit and Die"
That would be an ESAD.

Actually, the meeting went like this:

SISKO: My wife died because of you.
PICARD: I'm very sorry, but not really, since I was being mentally raped at the time.
SISKO: Take your politically correct crew, your bald ass head, your French accent that sounds British, and your big happy ship/apartment complex, and GET THE FUCK OFF MY STATION. SIR.
PICARD: No need to get all Sisko on me. I'm out!

Re: In DS9 did Jean Luc Picard meet Benjamin SISKO

Course, the novelization of "Emissary" made it clear in the end that Sisko realized he was being a jerk and Picard was just as much a victim, if not more, of the Borg.
